On this shot handheld, but supported by my knees for stable shot. Naka upo ako sa lupa for eye level. The AF of 80-400mm dramatically improved using the 51AF compare to my D90, the 80-400 dont have BIM so compare to other tele lens its still slow.

But on this shot I am on MF, pre focused on the twig and locked wait for the bird to come back and take my shot.

Another shot

Great timing!

Dust on my sensor after around 1500 shots... or this could be oil? waiting for my wet cleaning kit to get rid of it. I think if came from my 80-400mm that has moving barrel when zooming.

I know my lens has been in action for years and has not been cleaned, should have put it on 400mm before attachment and remove without zooming in back.

Jun, what do you meant Nikon acknowledge dust in sensor? or is the D800  36MP sensor sees dust even in small amount @ 100%?

I plan to do it myself (cleaning) no need to send it back to Nikon
Thanks

I think he meant the D600 sensor dust/oil issue.

Is it possible that the issue could be linked to the kit lens?  Some lens just sucks a lot of air as you zoon in and out.  Not trying to defend Nikon but I wonder if there is a data for prime users or to those people have the "IF" lenses experience similar issue.

Thanks for the link David.  I like how that person made his scientific test using timelapse.  My suspicion now is the use of excessive lubricant that Nikon uses with their internal shutter mechanism.  If they can adjust the amount of lubricant that they apply, this can resolve the issue.

Kung sa akin lang, since I know how to clean my own camera sensor, I will be ok with the D600.  Cleaning the sensor by using a wet sensor swab takes less than 15 minutes for me.  The D800 is also a better choice but for a hobbyist, ok na yung D600.

I saw some posts online about the mirror being misaligned a bit that it scrapes off some bits of the mirror box. And the debris are the ones being thrown to the sensor along with excess lubrication. There was a post in DPReview too right before Nikon's announcement of the D600 dust issue. He was told that if the camera is sent in, it involves changing some parts and not just cleaning anymore. You can read it here.

But then again, these guys doesn't seem to be bothered at all. :D

BTW, am eagerly awaiting my D800. :D

Kung tutuusin, may temporary solution naman.
Under normal condition, di naman obvious ang spots.

Since inamin na ng Nikon, siguro yan na ang simula para maresolve ang problema.  :D

Finally got mine. :D It's a Japanese unit.. Got it along with a 28mm and 50mm 1.8G.. She gave me the 28mm for 27k and the 50mm for 9.5k. Got the unit for 106k. :D So far, I can't find a problem with the left AF points (and I should stop looking). The bigger problem is I have sweaty and shaky hands! I love it in combination with the 70-200 2.8 VRII! I have no pics to show yet though! :D
