Can anyone please give me their opinion on what Lens i should invest for my DX camera.
Im planning to upgrade to FX by the end of the year, but i plan to buy a lens first, since i have no intention of selling my DX Camera.

So what should I invest on?
The new Nikon 24mm f1.4 or the 14-24mm f2.8

Please someone, anyone help me.

I plan to go Wide Angle, thats why i chose the 2 lens, but what should I choose, a wide zoom lens or a wide apperture lens?

Also, if any of you can suggest anything else, that would be helpful too.

Hi Al. Both are excellent lenses. I think the 14-24mm f2.8 will provide the most use for your wide angle need and it will even get ridiculously wider when used with a FX camera body.  I think this lens can pretty much do what the 24mm f1.4 can do when used as a landscape lens.

+1 for the 14-24

if your shooting landscapes or you just want a UWA.. then this is the best nikon lens can offer.

24 ------> indoor photography (e.g. wedding, concerts)
14-24 ---> landscape
I'd rather stay behind the camera and critique my skill rather be infront and denounce myself - jek

16-35VR <- mura na,nauutang pa  :o :o :o

you should specify what you want to shoot. the best person who can tell you which to get is you. these are 2 very different lenses with very different specialties ::)

Thanks for your Answers Guys! Helpful stuff. I guess i should specify what i want to shoot. Well i want to shoot landscapes, thats a given already. But i also want to capture people/ or a specific subject on a wider range. I want to capture people but has a large background behind them, but i'm worried that it might get too distorted.
Thats why I am also considering the 24mm 1.4

But im not a person against distortion in capturing people. I like how wide angle lenses capture obscure perspectives that add flair to the subject in a photograph like this for example: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cpphotography9/5350814173/#in/pool-647585@N21/

If any of you have seen Pulp Magazine and the early spreads from back in 2000 to 2004, usually pics taken by Xander Angeles or Tom Epperson, thats exactly what i'm going for. To be honest I'm not sure what lens they used, but i hope the 14-24mm f2.8 could match that. If any of you know what possible equipment they may have used or what equipment can emulate such effects, that would be really helpful!

Plus to PRPB, i have read about Lee Filters on the internet, gusto ko din gumamit ng Graduated ND filters if i do get a 14-24mm. May nabibili ba nun dito?

i'd go with 14-24mm, then after that 70-200 or any other tele. yun na ang setup ko ngayon (although mine is a 12-24 tokina and 80-200mm push pull). yung in between, pwede na ihakbang yun on either lens :)

Has anyone here used or bought a Nikon 24mm f1.4 Lens? Can you please give it a review? Or share some sample pics of yours. I'm still undecided weather to Invest on this or the 14-24mm f2.8. Thanks!

1. It's called grain...not noise.
2. It's called ASA or DIN...not ISO.
