Meron bang ginagawa o bubuksan? Milagro ah kung meron. Marami ng Nikon users sa Pilipinas kaya dapat panahon na para magkaroon.

It's the CDSC from the lower floor. I think they are moving to the fifth floor. Then of course binago nila yung itsura nung place. Let's face it, walang kalatoy-latoy ung Columbia store sa 2nd floor ng megamall :o

Nice! I do hope they offer sensor cleaning.. nakakainggit kasi pag may photo convention sa makati, tapos canon cams lang ung may free sensor cleaning.

Compared to Nikon Singapore and Nikon Hong Kong sales and service centers, wala talagang kabuhay buhay ang CDSC; especially their main branch.....

Take note, I didn't say Nikon Philippines.  that is non-existent.

I doubt that it will be free, unless it's a trade show or something.

Hindi naman ako masyado inggit sa Canon na meron free sensor cleaning -- in terms of your time, it's not free (mahalaga oras nating lahat). And the line was loooong, or so I was told.

A Canon shooter friend of mine said that even if it was free, it was not worth his time daw. In any case, as the old saying goes, "give a man a fish and feed him for a day; teach him to fish..." well... you get the idea.

Ang dali-dali lang naman mag clean, eh.

AFAIK, CDSC is Nikon Philippines. :)

Re: Sensor cleaning sa photoworld. Nagkaron ata ng problems with their technicians kaya walang sensor cleaning nun. :)

i agree to this! i think cdsc is just a distributor. tama ba? they are not really the "nikon" company that branched out here. tama ba?

just my opinion.

Check the link:  As per Nikon, CDSC is JUST a distributor; no international warranty honored whatsoever......

http://www.nikon-asia.com/distributors.php?page=1&countrycode=ph

mabuti pa Malaysia, they have their own authorised Nikon: Nikon (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.

so you are saying that those bought sa hidalgo (or in online purchase) ay madaling masira?

is it like buying a gray starex vs buying a starex from authorized dealers, and yung latter lang ang legal at dumaan sa customs? IMO

di pa pala bukas itong nikon shop sa megamall, pero meron ba sa ibang lugar?

Obviously, the imports are just as good (or as bad, as the case may be) as the locally (and officially) distributed item. Master pitbull said that with tongue in cheek; kasi, would you believe it, that's what the employee (salesperson) of CDSC mentioned?

I personally would not mind getting a CDSC unit if... wait, I meant "IF" (big "if") the price differential was not too great.

Case in point: about three years ago, the Nikon D40 with kit lens (if memory serves me right) was P23,000 for the CDSC unit. The grey was P21,000. The CDSC came with a few more freebies (ugly Nikon bag, a gift certificate for some FPPF seminar, etc). The price differential was not that great, PLUS, you get the local warranty.

BUT, check this out: the grey D7000 is around P56,000. The CDSC D7000 is over P70,000, body only. That is waaaaaay too much. I support Anderson Tan and CDSC when I can, but I also support my wallet.

Personally, I would get CDSC units if the price difference is only 5% on big ticket items (if Henry's/Mayer's sell the 70-200 2.8 VR II for P93,000, I would get a CDSC version if it were maybe P97,000; I think it is considerably more than P100,000 right now, maybe close to P120,000? For that price, no way).

I'm also amenable to a maximum of 10% difference (like the D40 three years ago) for lower priced items.

Besides, most of the time, when you go to Hidalgo/Quiapo to buy your grey unit item, most of the time you talk to Nicholson, Henry, Wilson, Mang San Ramon, etc... and they know much more about the camera than the salesperson in Columbia.

agree w/ this.

compare nikon to apple, w/c also does not have a local philippine store, only distributors. i also encourage and advocate patronizing these local official sellers whenever possible. this is to help grow the market, get more of apple's attention, and hopefully one day get ourselves a real apple store (and earlier release dates, and promos, and freebies, etc.).

local store SRPs are also expensive compared to other stores (e.g., compare store.apple.com/ph to store.apple.com/hk or store.apple.com prices).

pero the key is plural yung distributors. and thankfully some of them find ways. lalaban sa apple store US prices (and in some cases may tulog pa ang US prices!). you just need to know where to look, whom to ask. official pa lahat. though granted, an apple laptop sourced in the US carries an international warranty valid everywhere. pero mas okey pa rin bumili locally.

pero nikon, it seems, for whatever reason, limits its presence to exactly one distributor per country. maybe it works in other countries (azerbaijan?); maybe the local exclusive distributors elsewhere invest and pamper their clientele. no comment na lang ako dito since i have no real experience with CDSC for nikon. nakabili lang ako sa megamall minsan ng video tripod (non-nikon) na naka-sale. bought my nikon stuff sa 2nd hand market, none cdsc.

sa side ko naman, since my credit card will not meet the price of the camera (sorry, no plans of increasing the credit limit of my CC; pero gustuhin ko man, i'd go for the installment sana) but i prefer buying an item (especially electronics) at a cheaper price. It may be risky going to hidalgo especially bringing big money and not familiar with the place, but there's a lot of ways to go there safely and get your stuff there.

for example: d3100 in a mall - 36000 vs d3100 in hidalgo - 28000-30000
