a very nice camera indeed.  but with its steep price, mas okay pa mag G12/LX5.

But with its retro/vintage look, winner ito!

from engadget

Small | Large

from WhatDigitalCamera

x100     (w= ?) / 127 x 75 x 54 mm (5 x 3 x 2.1 in)
leica m9 (585g) / 139 x 80 x 37 mm (5.5 x 3.2 x 1.5 in)

LX3      (265g) / 109 x 60 x 27 mm (4.3 x 2.4 x 1.1 in)
E-pl1    (334g) / 115 x 72 x 42 mm (4.5 x 2.8 x 1.7 in)
GF1      (315g) / 119 x 71 x 36.3 mm (4.7 x 2.8 x 1.4 in)

beyutiful digital 35mm classic rangefinder-esque compact  :)
so theres definitely bright future on this segment.
i wouldnt be surprised if they add 50mm or 28mm option later on.

If this goes at sub-PhP50K, I'd get one in a heartbeat.  Above that, pagiisipan pa, hehehe.

I wish they added an angled LCD ala the NEX-5 - that would make it perfect for shooting from the hip.  But even without an angled LCD, the size, sensor and lens makes this the perfect street camera.  Definitely the Best of the Show (Photokina) for me.   ;D

Sub 50K it is http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/21/fujifilms-finepix-x100-ships-march-2011-for-1-000-we-go-hands/

The lower price will easily quadruple or even quintuple the market for this camera.

This makes me wonder whether Fuji will release a model with interchangeable lens at a later time.  If Fuji does not do this, someone else definitely will so Fuji might as well be the one. When Fuji does this, it will become even more interesting.   ;D

Apparently, the sample being shown around at Photokina doesn't actually have a sensor inside just yet.  :P

~ March 2011 release date.  I think Fuji miscalculated on how popular this was going to be, otherwise they'd have announced when they were almost ready to ship.

Check out the current poll on DPReview.com:

When was the last time you had a Fuji camera right up there with a Nikon? Hehe.

Granted, this type of camera has been done before - by Sigma (DP series) and Leica (X1), and they haven't proven to be very popular.  But here's hoping Fuji can address the 2 biggest issues with the Sigma's (interface and speed) and Leica (price).

On paper, this holds a lot more appeal to me vs EVIL systems like M43rds, NEX etc.. I like the idea of a compact camera built and optimized around a fast prime lens.  But that's as a back-up to a DSLR system.  But otherwise, if I had only one camera, I'd pick an interchangeable lens system over this any day.

may asim pa ang pentax  :o :o :o

the price is just too ridiculous for me...kung nasa 30k lang yan, reasonable pa yan. c,mon, how much do you need to create something like that? baka yun manufacturing ng fuji hindi pa kaya yun ganun volume or may iba silang kausap sa mga parts nila ::)

aabang na lang ako ng 2nd nito :-*

I believe ang susunod na version nito ay interchangeable lens system na. If ever nikon releases the Q mount and a new line of compact lenses, baka makisawsaw ulit ang fuji just like it's dslrs. Baka inaantay lang ng fuji ang q-mount. :D

cool retro style. the focal length and fast focal length good for street photography. a very good alternative for us guys who can't afford a leica m9, m8, or even an x1. hope it really is a subP50k cam but amateur photographer reported a €1,000 price.
