Was planning on upgrading to a D300s, but I might hold it off 1st and check out this D7000 if this is for real. Very tempting!! ;D

I hope it's true, but if this is a D700 replacement, then their model numbering is way off in this one and make this more unlikely. If you notice, Nikon doesn't add another digit for a succeeding model. Ex. D70, D80, D90 or D100, D200, D300.

may AF motor kaya ung D7000?

di ko maimagine ang future ng mga nikon users na low budget katulad ko.. puro AF-S lenses na nirerelease nila.. ang mamahal pa.. sa 3rd party tuloy ang bagsak ko..

most probably replacement for the d90, not d700. Specs are nice though.

Current 35mm f/2, ~USD300.

New 35mmm f/1.4, US$1,800.

Darn, the new Nikon primes are being priced like Leicas now!

What this is enticing me to do is to pick up the older AF-D lenses.   :P

Then again, I can understand Nikon's positioning:

You want OK IQ with bargain basement price?  Go with the 18-55, 55-300 stuff.

Ready to take the next step up?  12-24, 18-200, etc.  Or 18-35, 70-300 on FX.

Want IQ, speed, and zoom?  Get a pack mule with the f/2,8 trinity.  If you can't afford a pack mule, get the new f/4 zooms.

Want ultimate IQ and speed?  Get the new close to US$2k primes.

I think this is partly our fault.  We so readily bought US$2k bodies that will be outdated rather quickly.  Why can't we afford US$2k lenses that will last much longer?   :o

if you're referring to the $1.7K 35mm f/2.5 Summairt-M, yes.

the 35mm f/2.0 Summicron-M & 35mm f/1.4 Summilux-M are $3k & $5k respectively.

Hi Jordan,

I expect that with this D7000, your camera model would now be 7793s or a 7703s?

On more important matters, gifts are better if given by someone else.

How about I give you a Nikkor 35mm f/1.4 and I get a Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 VR2 from you?   :D ;D ;D
