Quezon City Comelec Voters Registration
« on: October 21, 2009, 11:05:25 AM »
It was only a few days away until the deadline for the voters registration for the Philippines 2010 elections when I had some free time to finally register as a new voter. Least to say, given the volume of people that are rushing to be registered (probably procrastinators like me), that the process took hours. Most of those wasted hours are from just standing in line, mere inches of movement per hour that passed by.

After three hours battling foot pains, hunger, and impatience, I finally got registered.

Enjoy!
"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.

"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."

"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.

"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

good for you!
my sister is currently waiting in line for the registration....
and the Comelec's way of processing new voters are a pain in the *toink*. on 4hours she waited there, (until now...) only 2 have been registered. And talk about comelec officials being "polite". sarap saksakin.

Yung woman sa first picture nakikipagsigawan na sa bystanders by the time I finished.

Mayor Belmonte intervened na nga to let some people in. Grabe kasi sistema nila.

its sad to hear your experiences...

sadly, the COMELEC is providing only 1 machine per municipality, yung sa 2nd District QC yata e 2 machines...

here's my comment...

actually dapat may sistema yung election officer diyan eh, pero no matter good a system is, kung madami talaga ang volume, d mo pa din ma implement, dito sa province we could encode the data of the registrant for a little over a minute, kaya nakaka encode kami ng 350 registrants a day, one machine pa lang yan... e yan sa QC, 2 machines dapat 700 registrants a day yan, dapat lang mabilis ang nag eencode para mabilis...

ang problema din sa mga registrants, the comelec started receiving applications as early as november last year pa, mahilig kasi yung mga iba sa last hour applications, hay naku....

by the way, im an election officer here at a municipality located at northern luzon, :D

5dmk3, 5dmk2,70-200 2.8,24-70 2.8, 24-105, 16-35 2.8, 8-15 Fisheye, 100mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4

Hi Sir! Glad to hear the COMELEC side of these. But I just can't help but say that while it is true that registrations started as early as November 2008, only by August 2009 that they allowed Weekend and Holiday registration (please correct me if I'm wrong on the date) thus having students and young professionals no choice but to take absence from their school or work. Not everybody can afford to take a leave from this, especially the young professionals who are usually not yet regular workers (interns).

There is also an issue of the requirements to bring. I personally had trouble securing a required identification card (that has an address on it). Had I known that a copy of a birth certificate is valid, then I should have registered as early as July :P.

Thanks for the info on the QC area.
