What size of memory card are you using?
« on: July 26, 2009, 07:10:59 PM »
There are a lot of different memory cards available now in the market ranging from 1g to 16g and maybe even more. What size of memory card do you use? I think it is important to choose the right size. That said because i tried downloading my photos in a Kodak shop and the machine just cant read my 4gb, 8gb, and 16gb sd card in one of the yellow machines in the store. However , the 1gb, 2gb cards didnt have a problem at all. And since i prefer having my photos printed, i decided to keep 2gb sd cards from now on to prevent hassles when i download in those kodak express shops.

hmm probably they couldn't read FAT32.. hehe :)

I use sandisk extreme III cf 4gb but i think now when buying memory cards especially for use in photography, the speed has equal or higher priority than the size..

I use 3 8GB CF cards. Try going to Fuji shops, their machines can read my CF cards successfully.  ;)

Get Good quality card readers that are SDHC compatible. From what i have experienced, buying cheap alternative card readers are not worth buying at all.. i did lose some important photos while transferring from the card to my PC before.

The Kodak shop's memory card reader apparently does not support SDHC cards. You should tell them it's much more expensive to lose business than to upgrade their old card reader to one that supports SDHC. There are a lot of SDHC cards in the market. And more people are buying them now that new DSLR cameras can record video.

I use SD(HC) and CF cards up to 16 GB. I have a 16-GB Transcend SDHC Class 6 card and a 16-GB SanDisk Extreme IV CF card.

they probably have non-SDHC compatible card readers and you have SDHC memory cards. in any case, my 2003 card reader can read and write my 16GB CF cards without any problems (although slow lang). :)

i use 1x 16GB SDHC and 1x 16GB CF Card.

I use Lexar Pro UDMA 300x 4GB CF cards for my D700.  They work great and are very fast when transferring files using a FW800 Lexar reader.

Why 4GB?  Mainly because that's what Adorama was having a promo on last year.  Got 3 cards for $70 each.  There was then a $70 rebate for each card :P  So my 3 cards came out free.  3 was the max quantity allowed for the rebate.

I use 2 units 16GB Transcend SDHC, 1 unit 8GB PQI SDHC and I still keep the 2GB Patriot SD kung magpapaprint ng photos.

Kadalasan naman, I have the Transcend SDHC card reader/writer with me in case madami yung files na pa.print para direct SDHC na yung reading.
