http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Nikkor_70-300mm_VR/

article has comparison between the 55-200vr and 70-300vr.

i voted as well.

I got the 70-300mm VR but it's kinda hard to say if the upgrade is worth it. It really depends if you find the extra range worthwhile.

If you are planing to shot nature , the extra 100 mm is a bonus, most probably bitin pa rin.

Parang misleading yung POLL mo and your question sa first post mo?

Your Poll asks which is better the 55-200VR or its bigger brother?

Your First post asks ; worth it to buy 70-300vr EVENTHOUGH YOU HAVE A 55-200vr?

anyways gets ko naman talaga. And my answer will be NO.

If you have a 55-200VR then you are just probably buying a simple upgrade with more than twice the original items price. Sayang nga.

If you dont have a tele, or what you have is an 18-105 vr or 18-135 or 55-200 nonVR, then you can justify the price of the 70-300VR.

With a cropped body, its reach is a monster.
Its VR is superior, yes I used to have one. Its VR2 indeed.
It is a good prep for FullFrame FAD in the future. Maybe 3 years from now, its price will increase due to the FullFrame Lens demand.

imho, if you already have the 55-200 vr, just save up for a better lens. but, if you're planning to sell your 55-200 in order to buy the 70-300, that would seem more logical to me instead of buying the 70-300 and having the 55-200vr at the same time   ;)

If you don't have a telephoto yet, is the 70-300 worth the difference in price over the 55-200?

If I have the 55-200mm VR, I'd buy something else (e.g. wide lens, another prime).  Unless I'll replace it with a 70-200mm F/2.8.  Magaan kasi ang 55-200 at decent ang image quality nito.

Price difference *might* be more justifiable to people who likes telephoto.
In my case, I love wide (but wants a telephoto also), so for me, I'd buy a 55-200 + a wide lens.

The price of a new 55-200 is approx. 12k and the price of the 70-300 is about 26k, so about double. So you decide. This prices are gray, as per my rounds from hidalgo today.

@all - maraming maraming salamat for teh inputs, :D

Para hindi kayo madamay sa pagkalito, hehe currently I have these lenses:

Tokina 11-16mm
Nikon 50mm 1.8
Nikon 18-105mm VR
Nikon 55-200mm VR

Nung pinost ko yung poll, I already have the budget for 70-300mm.
Medyo naging undecided lang ako sa mga reviews and mixed views regarding the lens
na nabasa ko sa flickr discussions, dpreview etc.

After reading your precious opinions and views especially of sir pitbull & vulcanraven (better lens upgrade)
Tama sigurong maghintay na lang ako at Ipon 'til monday to buy a Nikon 80-200mm na lang (as suggested by friends).
Then maybe keep / sell the 55-200mm.

Salamat sa lahat ng bumoto at nagbigay ng kani-kanilang opinyon. Salamat! :D
