How to do 1X1 ID Pictures
« on: May 29, 2009, 11:16:01 PM »
OK. Dont laugh.

Seriously, I need to take 1X1 ID pictures for employees of a company.
It just occured to me that I dont know to do it.

What settings should I use considering that the pic will be just 1X1.

How do I print all these pics in a 8'X10" paper.  I dont use Photoshop. Can this be done in Lightroom?

There are plenty of ways to approach this.  here's one way.

I would use picasa.  Download:  http://picasa.google.com/
use small resolution on your camera.  1x1 would only be 300X300 pixels.  doesn't have to be exact, but but using bigger resolution will just waste space and slow down your computer.

get the exposure & white balance right when you take the photo to minimize post-processing.

Download the photos in picasa and crop to square.  You'll have to do this individually, I don't think there's a batch option for cropping.  It should take no more than a few seconds per photo.

Now that you have your square photos, select the photos  80 at a time (for 8x10).

Click on Create -> Picture collage --> Grid - your photos will be arranged for printing on 8x10 paper.  If it's less than 80 photos, just make extra copies of the files in the same folder so that the blank spaces will be filled up.

Since may lightroom ka na, you can try using the PrintScreen function. Paste mo lang sa ibang photo editor program. Hope this helps.
