IMHO, id get the lens first.. mas ok investment ang lens; like what was mentioned previously, bodies depreciate way way faster than lenses and more importantly overall IQ, sharpness of all your pix would improve...

saka if you go for a 50d, from what i read online, you need good glass for it because of the high resolution sensor.

By experience, I would have to agree with everyone on this. Invest in better glass. I used to be in the same situation. I have a Canon 20d (which I've had for ages) and upgraded the previous lenses that I used to own (28-135, 18-55, 70-300) to now having just 3 lenses (17-40 f/4 L, 70-200 f/4 L, and 50 f/1.8). The quality of your pictures lie mainly in the quality of your glass. That is why I am just waiting for my shutter on the 20d to give up till I purchase an upgrade (I want to go full frame...). As of now, I am looking to swap out my 2 lenses to 24-70 f/2.8 L and the 70-200 f/2.8 IS L. So, I would definitely recommend the 24-70L. It is a great fast lens.

Sorry my reply is so long but this is my 2 cents.

i also give my vote to better glass.  bodies (especially digital) goes obsolete every couple years or so.  :)

In my case Id go for lens first kasi wala pang 1 yr yung cam ko..

Pero i think I know how you feel wanting to upgrade your camera.
Camera: canon digital rebel xt (out dated na)
Fav Lens: canon 50mm 1.4/f USM (i'll assume you have this one based on your photo stream) -already a very good lens lalo na sa kamay nyo
Two thumbs up on your photo stream lalo na dun sa 365 days nyo na ginawa..
You have great composition on your shots and you do well with PP..

In your case I'll go the other way around and upgrade the body.
Keep your 28-135 (muka naman good copy yung nakuha nyo)
and
get a 50D bagay po yan sa level nyo master..   ;D ;D ;D

there is a simple way to put it, most will agree that lens should go first, here is another way to look at it, would you invest on a depreciating item (body) or something that will last longer in value (lens). And also dont 4 get its the glass that give you that superb IQ your body which has the sensor, well there is always new technology that comes out. Even with a newer sensor and body you use the same glass ergo invest in the glass first.

Getting a 50D means
i) 350D to 50D is IMO a definite noticeable upgrade (size, build, the jump to 15MP, high ISO performance, live view)
ii) You will use it always
iii) More prone to depreciation
iv) A longer "Its a New Toy!!! Euphoria" as you learn all the new things it can do compared to the older one
v) Gets highlighted in photosites more for better bragging rights (Taken with a Canon 50D! Naks!)
vi) Non-Photographers see it and proclaim "ooh big cam, must be a pro!"

Getting the 24-70 2.8L equates to
i) Quite noticeable performance you've experienced already
ii) Will retain its value better
iii) When your lens arsenal expands, you might use it less
iv) The novelty of a new lens passes quicker... Until someone comments on it and you feel gushy inside again
v) The red ring flaunts itself when your in a shoot and other photographers experience Lust
vi) Photographers see it and proclaim "ooh Pro Lens! Me Likey!"

So evaluate the choice and decide which appeals to you more

if you plan to upgrade the body within 6 mos to 1 year after the lens purchase I would go for the body first.

however, if it will take you more than a year to upgrade the body after buying the lens first then I will take the lens.

nice shots... by not looking at the properties, i would not have noticed that you didn't use a L lens. so the 50d does bring alot more to the table in terms of upgrades.

as for the lens, though ang sarap ng "L" fever.... not all those with the "L"ens can shoot nice pics. Porma lang.

I do hope you went for a body, but just in case you want the lens... id go 24-70 2.8L than 24-105 F4L.

I would pick the glass for all the usual reasons. But also, from what's on the web, the 50D is much more unforgiving of lens design and proper technique. Stuff that you could get away with on a lower-res camera (i.e. not stopping down, not using a tripod, etc) may have a detrimental effect on your photos (well, at least if you use it at high-res or pixel-peep)
