testing a SIGMA 30mm f1.4
« on: August 15, 2007, 10:27:18 PM »
everyone said you have to check for focusing when getting a Sigma.
so i made this rough test to check if it focuses correctly
tried it on a tripod using autofocus and manual focus
this looks like a good copy

then i tried it outdoors
you can really see the shallowness of the depth of field

still using 1.4 aperture
i'm not sure kung medyo soft yung edges (left and right of center)
considering the shallow DOF and naka angle yung kuha ko

this is using 4.0 aperture

again using 1.4

i like the colors and they are pretty accurate
all photos are unprocessed and was just reduced in size.

kieth, was this resized to 640 pixels?

I may be seeing pixelized images at F/1.4 or is it jpeg noise?

600 pixel lang yata hindi 640
must be jpeg noise
the raw shots were ok sharp
not the sharpest but sharp enough

I had to put my reading glasses, but it is more evident, some artifacts around the flower.

sir keith,
I think it has something to do with the way on how it was saved, aroud 10kb lang kasi yung size ng image so talagang pixelated siya.

Anyway, sharp copy. Magkano po damage?  ;D

1.4 dapat siguro.
tama raymond, baka Image Ready jpeg quality was set too low.

Looks ok, but I would've expected a lot more sharpness being that its a fixed focus lens.
Still, aside from the compression problems you've faced in editing, the lens looks very much usable.

this is really a good lense. i've got a chance to use it once on my wedding coverage, borrowed from a friend. very useful lalo na sa low light situation sa loob ng church.

i've been testing this sigma for 2 days and i'm actually beginning to like this one  :o
enjoying it immensely indoors (with all the rain and all outside) :D
