Sir Raffy,

No second dates  ;D

While I am posting this, our fellow Pipho member CrispyParty is on the way to Canon to pick up the Canon 5D mk2 . I am sure with his creative skill in video production, We expect more stunting video images from his outfit. MagicEye

In fact I had a second date the other day at underground logic when we were editing the video presentation of Sir John.  It was strange that after 3 hours I realized we haven't shot a single frame in stills.  All HD video. And this is supposed to be a DSLR camera. :D :D :D  Will show you some clips when i have time to edit and upload video files. Maybe this weekend.

Watch out this thread. As announced by Magiceye in his thread, a group of top film and commercial directors and artist are planning to make a short film using the 5D MKII.  It will premiere here in Pipho. :)

Raffy,

Kasali tayo diyan - maski behind the scene photographer lang. I am fascinated with the editing room - FinalCut and with the HD format sa hi definition puede mag crop ng images. Wow so many things can happen. Parang Magic...

Lets shake the whole industry with this model. I am lining up top Canon wedding photographers to test this camera too. Sayang hindi ako wedding photog.

Sir John, I'm afraid it's no longer a date.  It is turning into a love affair with the 5D MKII. :D :D :D

Sabi ko sayo Raff may mga lalabas na ganito eh. Hehe. I'm not sure if Canon knows it, but the filmmakers know the value of this new technology. Kaya when I showed the camera to all my friends na TV commercial directors, biglang lahat magsisibilihan, whether Nikon or Canon user man. One of them, who is a Nikon user, will buy the cam and just use a Nikon to Canon lens adapter when shooting video.

This camera will open floodgates to a whole new level of filmaking talaga. Watch out for more film related accessories na lalabas in the coming months.

Exciting...

Here is the company website link:

http://zacuto.zenfolio.com/p408746338

And more info and HD video download samples from Vincent Laforet's video.

http://www.usa.canon.com/dlc/controller?act=GetArticleAct&articleID=2127

"These are large files. Only the latest and most powerful personal computers are capable of playing these clips successfully. If playback is not smooth or if playback freezes occasionally, then your computer may not be properly equipped to view these files. More information on specific system requirements will be made available shortly. We have made these brief clips available purely for those advanced users who are interested in seeing the full HD video capability of the EOS 5D Mark II.

These files were created with a pre-production EOS 5D Mark II. They may not accurately represent final production quality.

We recommend that you install the latest version of QuickTime in order to view these files."

Because the sensor of a full frame 5D MKII is a lot bigger than a HD Camcorder.
5D MKII now has the highest low light sensitivity for video, even better than RED ONE. (google RED ONE).

DOF of the 128k 5D MKII using any EF lens is almost like real million peso film cameras.
That's why.

Looking closely at the image, does the new 5D MkII come with a pop-up flash?  ;)

Let me reiterate my impressions that i posted a few pages back.

Looking at my image files and especially the HD video files i said that this DSLR seems to be an overkill.
It's not built for today or this year.  It was built for the future. Cutting edge technology.
Not everyone will be needing 21 MP image files even if you can set it smaller even in sRAW.

Moreso 1080P full HD video files, even if there is a smaller SD 640 X 480 broadcast quality movie recording size option.

It's not for everyone, at a SRP 128k price tag. But serious hobbyist will take the tab.
The PRO's who has been paid for billboard shoots  and having invested  300k+ 1Ds or 1M+ digital backs prior to this 5D MKII know the value of 21 MP.

For the HD video capabilities, Aids will be in a better position to explain the potentials PRO commercial filmakers see in this 128k DSLR.

It simply rivals million peso ($100,000) HD equipment presently used by production houses.  In the right hands it can make dreams real for the artistic and creative indie and commercial filmakers on a budget. :)

• 1920 x 1080 (16:9) up to 12 mins (Quicktime 1080p H.264; 38.6 Mbits/sec)
• 640 x 480 (4:3) up to 24 mins (Quicktime 480p H.264; 17.3 Mbits/sec)

My first DSLR video:
All video clips in this video was recorded using the Canon EOS 5D MKII at full HD settings.  This is my first time to edit using FCP so please bear with the editing.   The full HD file is 105 MB for the 53 secnds clip so I downsized it to webfriendly file size.

Lenses used in this video:
