Those are 2 very different lenses. IMHO, no point comparing them.

You can buy the 70-200 and get the canon 50mm 1.8, no need to choose.

I've been using this for several months and its stellar.  Wanted the 24mm but the focal range of this is more useful in my application.  I dont miss my midzoom at all.   It also vignettes in the corners wide open but can easily be adjusted in post.  I like the vignette its great for portraits -). Only downside is that its expensive.  This one deserves a red ring. Look into Fred Miranda's reviews!  10/10 -)

A 45+ year old Carl Zeiss Jenna Tessar 50 f/2.8 i bought cheap over the weekend. the serial number indicates it was manufactured from 1967-1970 in m42 mount.

external condition and the optics are good for its age. i got it as a bargain since the owner informed me that the lens has a stuck aperture which is very common for lenses of this age. managed to make the aperture blades move by cleaning the blades by removing the rear lens element. didnt go all the way from removing the front glass element  to completely remove the aperture blades as that would require a lot of work reassembling the blades.

minolta AF 50mm f/1.7
an almost mint minolta 50mm i got last night together with another minolta lens (the beercan).
the condition of the lens is near mint and yet again i got it for cheap as the seller is disposing old lenses.
this is a circa 1985 lens so it is roughly around 30 years old
Auto focus is working perfectly on the sony a55 but can only use in manual focus on the A7 since i am only using an LA-EA1 adapter.
