Special Feature - Pinoygraphers@SG :
Manila Bulletin's Picture Perfect today -
 May 27, 2008

Sharing the same passion for photography, a group of
Filipinos working in Singapore converged to form
"Pinoygraphers." Composed of enthusiasts and a few
experienced shooters, members regularly pull together
(as a pastime, being away from home) to study the
basics of photography and have learned to hone their
skills by constant practice. Reinforced with
exchanging of ideas, comments, and constructive
criticisms about their works, members of Pinoygraphers
have discovered their inner potentials and there are
also those who have mastered the craft.

To raise the team’s artistry and to bring each member
to the next level of photography, the group recently
invited an expert from the Philippines for a two-day
photo workshop. Ross Capili – a professional
photographer, painter, digital fine art printmaker,
and a member of the executive council of the NCCA
(National Commission for Culture and the Arts) Visual
Art committee – conducted the activity which broadened
the team’s photographic ingenuity.

With four Filipina models from the Philippines and
Singapore, participants learned the imperatives of
conceptual outdoor portrait and fashion shoot –
understanding the importance of ‘right time’ to shoot
with models outdoor. They were also taught about the
nitty-gritty of post-processing techniques, hands-on
light metering, fine art bodyscapes (using strobe
lighting setup), among others.

"The whole Pinoygrapher team and other participants
are grateful for this photo workshop which helped us
bring to the next level of photography," shared Bhong
Odal, core head of Pinoygraphers in Singapore. He
added, "We have learned so much from this activity,
providing us with the necessary techniques and skills
to develop our craft and share it to others."

Nice workshop... im happy to hear that filipinos in other country use the photography as a tool not just to have a pastime, being away from home but also to learn the
basics of photography and have learned to hone their
skills by constant practice in their own way and inviting experienced speakers in the field or this art.
