Hopefully, the intro of the Mk2 5D will drive down the used price of 1Ds-II.
As of now, the market price of a mint 1Ds-II is between $3600-4200.

I would sell all my 5D's for a 1Ds-II (with FF 16.7Mpixel, 45point AF and pro body) over a Mk2-5D.

In the meantime, i will still be sitting on the fence.
Nikon or Canon..... whatever comes with the better full frame camera with value for money will make me shift totally to just one system.  I forsee full frame camera prices going down when prosumer models are developed with the economies of scale making it cheaper to manufacture the FF sensors.

Remember Sony is now in the FF sensor manufacturing business, and Canon too will be having a brand new factory producing full frame sensors up and running mid year 2008. Exciting things to come in 2008.

The Northlight Images rumor site, in reference to the same post in DPR condensed the additional posts by the original poster:

"The CMOS in the new camera will be an entirely new generation"

"The CXR NR system will detail retention at 12800 similar to 3200 on current model, though a 1 2/3 stop improvement is the conservative, stated estimate. Canon hopes to create a "wow" factor with a conservative estimate that surpasses itself in studio/ pro review tests, because they know at this level, you'll be looking there. The philosophy here is that it will create such a "buzz," many who would not consider this camera will consider it. Calling a 2-stop advantage a 2-stop advantage would simply be meeting expectations. FPS will also slightly exceed 6 (and 3), as stated. Canon received negative feedback for the 6.5 FPS quoted in the 40D and learned from their mistake here. (Expect Nikon to underpromise at D3 and above cameras in the future."

"The weather sealing will, in fact, be the same as the current flagship. This is in direct response to Nikon and Pentax. Expect full weather sealing to be a feature in all but low-end (Rebel) bodies in the next cycle. You can thank Pentax for this."

"Battery life will only be improved by just under 10% due to the extra processing required."

And in a point that won't go un-noticed to 1D3 and 1Ds3 owners

"The market segment is not in direct competition with the D300. Just as the 5D created a new class of camera 3 years ago, the new 5D will create a similar new niche above the D300, but below the current Canon flagship. It will remain the affordable, full-frame niche that Nikon chose not to produce. The new Canon flagship, this Fall, will have a "1.5:1 price/performance advantage to the Nikon flagship." (Read carefully: this statement refers to the coming Canon flagship, not the 5D II being discussed here)."

This gets expanded in a later post:

"it will be made known this Fall (press release). There will be no new pro body from Canon in 2008 for sale. Of course it is possible that even the press release will be delayed; it is too early to tell, but the announcement is planned in 2008 for 2009 sale. The point here (seemingly Nikonian - announce -- long gap/lag - sell) is to allow pro's to prove the camera. It is a trust-rebuilding exercise after the 1D III fiasco."

Well, either April 22 or second half of the year :P

Everyone including myself wants it announced April 22.  However, if the announcement does not materilaize next month, I hope we do not indulge into GAS out of frustration as this will surely be announced come August 2008 in time for photokina and will be out of the market 4Q of the year.

....maybe it is better to stay on one system since  camera companies take turn on improving their products. Now it canon's time to shoot the ball. We just hope that Canon 5d II will surpass  d3 in all aspects so Nikon will produce a FF camera in a d300 body or better in a d60 body( in my dreams). Slowly  P@S are using the DSLR sensor so it is not farfetch that FF sensors will come to DX bodies.....I am daydreaming!!!!

maybe true...maybe not...sony did announce just recently a FF sensor beyond 20mp...always had been the trend that nikon uses sony sensors in the past....

so, if a new canon flagship comes out this fall [ and would be on sale early next year], my belief is that nikon has got the time to release a new flagship pro FF dslr [which may be using the new sony sensor] to go head to head/pixel per pixel/ feature per feature, and lastly, a cheaper price against canon...

now that nikon is entering FF...it can turn the market tide...[and dont count other manufacturers entering the FF market [ sony is making noises, thats for sure]...and i hope olympus and the rest of the manufacturers who makes 4/3 sensor should reconsider doing FF asn well
