A few newbie Q's on camera usage and equipment
« on: February 19, 2008, 08:18:39 PM »
Hi guys, it's my first time posting, so here goes =)

I set the file numbering of my Canon 400D to 'continuous' and after ten months, the filename's are at the IMG_8000+ range already. Is the filename a good measure of actuations? After ten months, are 8000 shots 'normal' for a hobbyist? Whats the lifespan (in actuations) of a 400D?

Oh and lastly, just saw a Ridata 16gig CF card being sold in CDRKing for about 3,500 bucks. Is this worth the money, or should I save up for more expensive brands?

Thanks!

Lars ;D

I read it would be better to have multiple 2Gig card instead of having just one card that has a large capacity. That way, if ma corrupt yun isang card, hindi total loss compared to having a corrupt 16Gig.

I second!

Ok lang naman for me yung 8k+ shuttercount in ten months. Ako nga mag-2k na wala pang 1 month eh. Hahaha! Rapid shooter pa kase sa event.

ako ng 14k in 6months. events really gets you going. advice on the shutter counts.... dont think about it that much. your shutter is bound to break sometime, so just keep shooting til it does. mura nman pa gawa ng shutter. around 5-6k.. when you start getting better and know what to shoot your auctions will lessen then you first started. i used to worry about before. i dont anymore. hehehe...

There're actually some programs that will enable you to accurately tell how many actuations your camera have made already. I personally use Opanda, and what it does is it reads the exif info of your pictures. Freeware lang naman yun so no need to worry about extra costs :)

About the CF question... I actually want to thank deenoh and the others for their posts. Ngayon ko lang naisip yung ganung angle! Lagi ko dati iniisip, the bigger the capacity - the better! less hassle of frequently changing your memory cards. Better nga yung madaming 2gb cards para if ever may ma-corrupt na isa, marami ka pa rin back-up cards. :D
