the beauty of technology is that nobody can say what the future holds when it comes to FF or other stuff :)
hopefully we will all be pleasantly surprised with the prices (wishful thinking) hehe. i can still remember purchasing a
VGA 14" monitor in 1989 for 20k pesos! or the 8mb hard disk for 8kpesos! am keeping my fingers crossed :)

40D will live on for sure kasi feeling ko by 2009 FF will still cost around $2000~$2500

Another beauty is no single camera company has the monopoly of technology now...Nikon,Sony, pentax, olympus, panasonic, samsung are now threatening Canon.
I hope the 5D Mk2 rumor is a la d700....hopefully so we can settle things up soon: STAY or SHIFT!!!!

Ok got this latest rumor off of the discussion over at DPReview...  Let's just take it with a grain of salt.  :-\

Quote
5D Mk II

- Will be announced Monday, September 8, 2008
- MSRP: $2,399.95 (SSP: $2,199.95), body only
- 16MP FF sensor
- 6 FPS
- Max ISO 25,600 (for what it's worth...it's more for marketing)
- Full weather sealing

- VGA-resolution display (from same supplier Sony uses for their new Handycams, except in 4:3 aspect ratio here)

- Pop-up flash
- Anti-dust features
- NO Live View
- NO pro AF from 1D (although all points are cross-type)
- NO video mode whatsoever (silliest rumor I've ever heard)
- NO compatibility with EF-S lenses (physically impossible anyway)
- NO electronic crop mode for faster shot rate
- NO HDMI-out
- NO UDMA CF support

As you can see, it's by no means ground-breaking. It's not going to out-do the Nikon D700 in performance or features (although overall IQ will be very close or indistinguishable). But it will be significantly cheaper. It's aimed at the more "manual" shooter.

Original 5D will continue to be sold at $1,799.95 (SSP) without any rebates until stock is depleted.

No Live View & HDMI? D700 is looking real pretty...  ;)

Haha!  I'm still waiting for the actual unit.  A side-by-side comparo will be in order before I decide to shift.   Sayang kasi yung f/2.8L Trinity ko. Huhuhu...  :'(

Partners, here's an alleged picture of the 7D box currently posted at Engadget.

I think it's a fake...  The hotshoe on the topview of the body on the box is from an old model body (prolly a 5D).  I would think that a new 7D would have the new model hotshoe that provides a seal with the locking mechanism on the hotshoe bases of the new model 580EXII and 4480EXII.

Lifted this from a Swedish site...

Blir det 7D kanske?        2008-08-05 21:50
Har hittat ett "spy photo" : http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/08/8-05-08-7db.jpg

En läcka från Canon i Canada avslöjar:

-12MP

-5fps, Up to 21 RAW files

-Dust removing system

-15-point TTL CMOS sensor

-Center point additionally sensitive with lenses of F2.8 or faster

-96% frame coverage

-Magnification: 0.71x

-3.0" 640x480 TFT LCD (920,000 pixels)

-ISO 50-3200 extended to 12800 and 25600

-DIGIC III, 14-bit

-Canon EF lens mount (not EF-S)

-Live View Mode

-The body is very similar to the 5D, similar handgrip

-Surprisingly cheap, US$ 1,899

Men kom ihåg att det bara är rykten och ingen fakta

/Thomas

Good news if they can sell the future XXD full-frame cameras at under USD1500.  Perhaps USD1000-1250.    ;)

Wow! Imagine a XXD Full-Frame camera fitted with an EF-S 10-22mm!?
Ultra-ultra Wide Angle na yun. hehehe

Even if you can fit it in, I don't think you'll get the wide FOV you want. From what I know, EF-S lenses have smaller image circles. This means that your picture from the 5DII with the 10-22 would have ridiculous amounts of vignetting. Anybody who knows better can correct me.  :)
