Actually I took a ruler to the screen -- all cameras were relatively straight in line with the exception of the supposed 5D MkII.

Anyway, we'll all find out in a few days (or months?) whether this was much ado about nothing :)

Yup, it will most likely be launched several weeks before the German Photokina.  Then, a week later, Nikon drops another new unit to steal the thunder from the 5D MkII - kinda like what happened when Nikon announced the D300, 1 week after the 40D was announced.

Reminds me of the Cold War escalation...  :)

OK lang so Canon will release a revolutionary model not evolutionary( minor upgrade). People will surely sell their old 5d and finally we can afford to have a FF camera at runaway price.....

The rumored 3D specs seem pretty lame when you consider it's got nearly the same price as the Nikon D700.

Canon is pretty quiet this past week.  Makes one think that they're going back to the drawing board on the MkII features.   If they can't match the D700 features, then they better rethink their 5D Mk II price if they plan to steal the thunder from Nikon on this one.   :-\

I've been hearing that the 1.3 APS-H sensor is also being discontinued already so the 1D MK III is the last of that genre. The prevailing thinking is that the 5D and MK III line will be merged into 1 body for photokina (MK IV=16 MP FF sports cam with crop mode ala D3 shooting at 10FPS) so the bad news is it will probably cost more than the D700 and the next full frame will be the 50D. This means the Rebels will be the only APS-C sensor cameras by 2009 and even the xxD series will be full frame.

Whatchathink?
Good news or bad...

Good news if they can sell the future XXD full-frame cameras at under USD1500.  Perhaps USD1000-1250.    ;)

40D will live on for sure kasi feeling ko by 2009 FF will still cost around $2000~$2500
