Could it be a problem with the card reader?

Could it be a problem with the card reader?

that could also be the case. some card readers can go wacko suddenly on some cards.

yikes! pareho tayo paul, Ridata din ako and yung photos din from yesterdays manila zoo photo op din yung nadale.

i had no luck recovering my photos yet. pero i think yung sayo may chance pa since na babasa pa in-camera. Tama sila, it could just be a card reader problem -try mo muna to download it direct from cam. goodluck!

@jps444, i tried already using photorec. but i think it only works for corrupted files. na reread pa naman ng cam kuya jp.

@bontistic & pubert, maybe the problem lies on the card reader. I  use MMC card for my phone, insert it on the card reader and na dedetect naman cya. bka un terminal ng CF or the program for it is malfunctioning. sana PC prob lang. wag sana madale un card reader. :(

If the pics are still viewable from the cam, you might want to try using the USB cable to DL the pics straight from the cam, but I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you.

My Ridata 1Gb also died on me, taking my Holy Wednesday pics with it (sira tuloy yung Holy Week docu ko  >:( ).  Kaya ayoko na ng Ridata.

Sorry to read about your Cf card problem.... imagine your best award winning images GONE... I use to have Ridata before... it happen to me several times... sa busit, tinapon ko na lahat.. wrong tipid... the most reasonable CF cards are the Sandiks. Lexar is a bit more expensive... Never again. it had happen before then it should happen again and again till you throw them away.  Magic Eye

Pubert and Aspirecaptured, you still have a great chance of recovering your photos from the damaged CF card.  I had similar experience only last month when my 2gb Ridata CF card was corrupted.  I was lucky that i was able to recover it using "EasyRecovery Professional" software.  Do not initiate any formatting or throw your CF right now... maybe do whatever you want to your CF after you recover your images from it.

It started when i tried to view my photos in camera when i got a corruption error message.  Initially, not all the photos were corrupted and still viewable in my camera but later it got an empty image error message.  At first, i was terribly disappointed knowing that i lost all the photos i took that day.

Aren't the in camera pics you can view mere thumbnails/smaller versions of the original files?  I read that somewhere.

Being able to view files in camera is not a guarantee that the original is still intact. It happened to me once but never repeated itself.  Maybe I just forgot to format the card with the camera before using it.

I have a P&S that shares CFC with my DSLR kasi.  So I always format my cards with the camera before using. I don't format using a computer or different camera. I got this tip from a photography book.

Just wanted to share that info.  And BTW, I still use the Ridata 1GB card and it hasn't failed yet again.

@Hartsord,MagicEye and Ocninon
thank you sir Hartsord, sir MagicEye and sir Ocninon for your opinions... i still have the pics on my cf card but i'm afraid of transfering it to a PC for it may cause a problem again. :(

i thought this happened to me kanina during my shoot. i took photos of an event and the owner wanted the pics agad.  he brought his compaq laptop with him so that we can download it straight from his computer.  his computer recognizes my camera but not the images so we could not download it.  its a good thing i also brought my ibook with me and it downloaded the images instantly.

could it be that the problem is because of the pc?  i use ridatas 256s, 512s, 1gbs and 2 gbs for quite some time now and things like that has never happened to me.

or maybe im just lucky...
