Where or how to calibrate a light meter???

i was given a minolta light meter, it has'nt been used for a long time. He said i need to have it calibrated. Is there a DIY process do i can calibrate it myself or do i really have to bring it to a shop? if ever where at? Where's the nearest shop from katips/white plains area. ??? TIA

By the way the guy that gave me is a cinematographer so they use it for movies...is the meter the same used for photography? n he just gave me the unit n a view finder no manuals :'(

The easiest way I know of is to either take a meter reading of a subject and then photograph the subject.

Or, compare its reading against another lightmeter.

You don't have to bring it to the shop.  Pass by my studio on Saturday (June 23) at 1pm.  I'll check it out for you.  My studio is at Unit 114, Gold Building, 15 Annapolis st., Greenhills, SJ.

Wow your very helpfull sir...thanks alot that would be a great help il contact you if i can swing by since our studio is near yours, were from white plains. By the way the model of the old school meter is " auto meter III " n it comes with a few finder, i also dowloaded the manual today too ;D
