Sony A7s

Another announcement by Sony while we were in bed without the price. So many cameras for Sony already and I think many more are coming. This cam looks interesting though.

Doc- I saw it too. No price yet from BH Photo.

Probably around $2k USD (guesstimate)

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1044728-REG/sony_ilce7s_b_alpha_a7s_mirrorless_digital.html

I might go with dual system if it performs nicely especially with the AF. I'm not overly concerned about the lack of AA but I am more concerned about the Sony's limited zeiss AF lenses. I'll trim my equipment if this becomes a great performer.

I think you need to buy an external recorder to record in 4K. It seems it can't record 4K inside. That's how I read the technical specifications but I could be wrong.

I think so too Doc. Still too early to jump into conclusion. I was expecting a touch screen display also. The 25 pt AF are placed much closer in the middle much like the Df or D610.

I do like to play with the mirrorless full frame though for trips, vacation and casual shooting.

Ultra-High ISO sensitivity of ISO 50 to 409,600 (standard setting of ISO 200 to 104,400 in movie mode)

Clean 4k HDMI video output “using the worlds first full pixel read-out without pixel binning”

The a7s will be compatible with Sony’s XLR-K1M audio adapter interface

Recording format S-log2, XAVC-S 50Mbps 1080p and 720p

Supports 120fps at 720p

Does not record 4k internally

Looks like pricing is out $2500 for the body, shipping in the next 2 months.

From Canon Rumors covering NAB Show 2014.

Looks promising, but I'll mostly likely skip this one and wait for the A7x, or the A7m, or the A7i, or the A7o :)

So that's 3 A7 models already, perhaps Sony should make more FE lenses instead of camera bodies with different sensors?

Does the A7s no longer suffer from the shutter slap with focal lengths longer than 100mm and does it still use the lossy 11 bit RAW format?

In the future, sooner or later, one of these siblings may win my heart and my wallet. This one is nice but it is too early yet to ride the Sony train.

I'm with you Doc. Wait and see muna ako. Let the early testers do their review first.
