Tokina AT-X M35 PRO DX AF 35mm f/2.8 Macro
« on: September 13, 2013, 10:43:39 PM »
Hi have anyone tried the tokina 35mm f2.8 macro? I heard that it is a sharp lens but a little bit slow to focus compared to the canon 35mm f2.. any thoughts?  ;)

Specialty lens yan  :o :o :o
Mabagal magfocus tapos humahaba pa. Sabi nila madaming alternatives yan kaya wala halos bumibili at binebena agad. Naging interesado ako dyan noon pero dx lang pala tapos nagagawa ko din naman sa x20 kaya di ko na binili

Mga Sir pasakay lang sa inquiries about 40mm, hindi ba issue na non-IS sya? Im planning to buy this pero same kami ni Sir raffy_eos7D ng concern.

Sir are you asking about the toki 35mm or canon 40mm pancake?

used to own this lens... built like a tank, very sharp, very good colors... noisy af and extends when focusing though... colors are very punchy with a bit of warmth to it (not ugly Sigma yellow though)... af accuracy was good with my eos 600d and 350d.... don't have it anymore... was my favorite prime lens on an aps-c body...

alternatives are the tamron lenses like the 60mm f2.0 :o also, you can reverse your kitlens like sir pitbull says... the tamron 60mm f2.0 is T2.0 at non macro distances but it T stops get lower the closer you get to the subject... as this is longer, this will be a better macro and portrait lens... the tokina is a better all around lens because of its shorter focal length but not too good as a macro lens because you have to get real close to your subject to get 1:1 magnification...

I can't really remember but it's definitely not usm level... maybe a tad bit slower than the ef 50mm f1.8 II at normal distance subjects or maybe the same... focus acquisition is slower on very close subjects... note that it has no focus limiter... I definitely didn't feel like the af speed was an issue for me but I never shot fast moving subjects with it either...
