Kung wala ka pang camera the comparison might be good to prevent buyer's remorse. However, in the field it might not matter at all. Both cameras are very good already and you can't go wrong in buying either. Well as in the olden and golden days of there 2 rival companies, it seems the game is still the same. Nikon a little better in stills but Canon is the king in video. In the past, comparison thread usually ignites brand war and users defend their brand like soldiers from Alamo.Things have change now and I hope it will stay that way. End users here are more civil and most will praise their brand if it is great and thumb it down when it is not.

Canon I think made a winner in the 70D and will make the Canon upgraders and would be users very happy.
The Nikon users are still skeptic with Nikon releases these days.Remember the d800 asymmetric focusing, the oil spotting in d600,over heating sb900 and the question of QA among the d7000 batches after the flood.
Well a lot of d7100 users here are very happy too. If you look at their thread it seems that the images are excellent. So don't worry if you got the d7100 or the 70D.I am sure you will get great pictures with it. If you are not satisfied, I am not sure what cam can make you. IMHO. As a prophylaxis, hinay hinay lang kayo ha and avoid bashing the other brands. Just a friendly reminder.

You can live with your d800 happily ever after, Jun....ha ha ha ha....ang haba ng thread na yon.In the end, the d800 is one of those great cameras, IMHO..OT na. Ika nga let us move on and shoot more. In the end these are just boxes and tools...kilatisin at busisihin bago bilhin...back to the topic.

I just read this somewhere about Canon, Sony and Nikon each investing with their own technology
- Canon invested into a solution to bypass and eventually replace the separate phase AF module. (Dual Pixel)
- Sony/Nikon invested to minimize Low ISO Read Noise. (Dynamic Range)

The other day, a friend of mine who's a videographer asked if I'd be interested in learning how to shoot wedding videos.  So the Canon EOS 70D came into consideration and I think this would make a nice pair with the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 zoom.  But I've been hearing complaints about the focusing issue with the center AF point especially when shooting wide open, I don't know if it's a quality control thing or it's more of a user-related error.  And we know that shooting wide open and with a shallow depth of field, you have a smaller margin for error and gotta be more careful.
