Kenko R72 compare to other ir filter.
« on: March 25, 2013, 07:33:14 PM »
I got this filter from filterexchange last week, pinili ko to over citiwide & the more expensive hoya r72, now im shooting IR, pero still noob & im using nikon d7000 with nikkor 10-24, having hard time getting good result, nabasa ko sa ibang forums na hindi kaya mag set ng custom white balance (CWB) sa d7000, but im hopeful na possible pa din mag IR sa cam ko, kasi meron akong nakikita na d7000 user using r72 filter na maganda ung output nila. thanks guys.. more power!

@pastilopez Thanks pastilopez for the info!

One more question guys about the best white balance? 2500k is the lowest & ang hindi ko talaga ma set custom white balance sa d7000 with IR filter on, sabi need ng reference file for it para makakuha ng magandang output, but I guess sa mga expert lang meron nun. Thanks sa mga mag rereply..

i am not familiar with kenko's ir filter however you could try doing what i usually do on your 10-24:
1. set wb to incandescent
2. manual mode
3. shutter = bulb, with remote and varies from 60 secs to 180 secs
4. f5.6 to f8
5. tripod
6. iso 200 (kung may iso 100 ka sa tingin ko mas ok)
7. naka-on yung noise reduction ko kaya twice as long ang antay bago matapos
8. cover the viewfinder to prevent light leaks

the rest is done in photoshop

hope this helps  ;)
