I think the higher resolution and the removal of anti alias filter are the major differences between the d7100 and the d7000.  if budget is an issue, get the d7000 and a better lens. the 17-55 is kinda impractical as an everyday lens. the 16-85 has a better build quality than the 18-105 but i think the 18-105 is sufficient.

hmmm, kasi if i'll buy D7100, ung may kasama ng 18-105mm po. :) why is it impractical to use 17-55mm as an everyday lens?
It make sense to use 17-55 2.8,however,people are saying that it is impractical because it is so expensive and you have 3rd party lenses available that are as good or better with much lower prices.
I will choose the d7.1k over the d7k because for 13k more, I will have a professional grade AF module.People are complaining about the temperamental d7k AF modules that abounds among the d7k. Not all d7k have AF problem and mine is not hounded by it but the d7.1k is here. To me it is better to get a good body that you could shoot for the next 4-5 years from now. You will have all the time to upgrade your lenses. While it is true that lenses last longer than the body, it is not entirely true these days.In terms of resale value the lenses depreciate significantly. I paid 105K for my US issued 70-200Vr2 and it cost so much less now and it is the same with the rest of my lenses. You need a good body and lenses to enjoy photography fully. You just need to spend more. Even if you have good lenses but the body can't focus it at times, then the lenses will be useless.
For me the new AF on the d7.1k is a single reason why I will pick up that over the d7k.
My very personal and humble opinion. To each his own.Cheers.
