Very interesting as it supposedly takes very good photos. The downside is it has a max aperture of f5.6   It'll be interesting how pics from the Nokia 808 compare to pics from the iPhone 4 (f2.8), iPhone 4s (f2.4) and the soon to be launched iPhone 5 (f2.0?)

hmm as per nokia website f2.4 na carl zeiss yung lens.
tapos as per spec sheet
http://europe.nokia.com/PRODUCT_METADATA_0/Products/Phones/8000-series/808/Nokia808PureView_Whitepaper.pdf

option to downsample to 3M, 5M and 8M available... saka full resolution (Yikes!!!)

Variable yung digital zoom. Smaller images sizes allow for a larger digital zoom. Sabi nila ayaw nilang mag extrapolate para lang ma accommodate yung digital zoom. They would rather have a limited zoom range than compromise image quality.

1/1.2" sensor size ? Halos 1 inch na ito ah

It actually have 2 gpu (1 dedicated GPU for the camera) just to process 41mpixel output :D

:D di na ko bibili ng dedicated P&S eto nalang bibilhin ko

Sample photos can be downloaded here

ang problema kasi, hindi pa kayang ihandle ng windows mobile or ng android ang processing ng ganito kalaking larawan. sayang nga eh.

lupit ng sample images at full resolution.

Just did an article about this one explaining the whole megapixel thing and oversampling. :P

Nokia Summons All The Pixels In The World To Create The 41MP Nokia 808 PureView

Hopefully maganda ang 5MP nito, though most people will be more hung up about the 41MP number anyways.

I tried it in a dimly lit room with no windows and it did show some muddyness even on the PureView shot but I would call the noise more restrained with it on instead of the full 38MP non-PureView one. Didn't include it in our sample images because I felt that the composition and subject (it was a sandwich that wasn't fresh anymore) wasn't good enough. Hehe.

Asked Nokia if they could lend me a review unit so lets hope they will oblige. =)

Daizzy, thanks for the heads up! I've been waiting for this camera for quite a while :D

I'd like to hear your impressions regarding the Image Quality of pictures taken with the Nokia 808. I notice you have the D5000, E-PL1, SX130  listed as your cameras. I'm hoping you'll say the IQ is at least just as good as those taken with the E-PL1.

Any chance you can post pictures of the same subject taken with the Nokia 808, D5000 and E-PL1? Many thanks in advance!

On September 11, 2017 DXOMark Mobile posted a review of the Nokia 808 PureView.

It scored a 61 when the 2014 iPhone 6 scored a 73.

To put things into context here are the image sensor sizes, the current cameras sold and crop factor vs the 2012 Nokia.

1" (13.2 x 9.6 mm) Sony RX0, RX100 and RX10 - 2.72x crop
1/1.2" (10.67 × 8 mm) 2012 Nokia 808 PureView & Standard 16mm film frame - 3.24x crop
1/2.3" (6.4 x 4.72 mm) Nikon COOLPIX L340, Ricoh THETA V 360 4K, Olympus Tough TG-5 - 5.49x crop

In 2014 Panasonic came out with the Lumix DMC-CM1 that has a larger image sensor at 1". No smartphone since then has been released with a larger camera.

I hope Nokia or Panasonic will release a 2018 smartphone with a 1" image sensor present in the Sonys.
