So, I finally junk my Meike 3rd party battery grip and decided to get the Nikon OEM version.  With the Meike battery grip, using two Nikon camera batteries (one in the camera and one inside the grip), the camera will display that the batteries are drained.

With the Nikon grip, this fault does not show and it operates as designed.

Thank you for this feedback Glenn.  I bite the bullet early on and got the MB-D12.  Glad to know that I called it right despite smarting at the outrageous price that Nikon was charging for the MB-D12.

Yes. The good news is that they work great.

Bad news is that your wallet will not appreciate it.  :o

I never contemplated when you pushed me to get a D800.  :)

Better buy the grip, it adds to the total feel of the camera (in my opinion).  :)

Quick question lang to the D800 owners.

How fast does your camera drains a freshly and fully charged EN EL15 battery if you just insert it in your camera and turn the power on.  Leave VR off including the live view feature.

My camera drains the battery within 6 hours. So before I send it back to Nikon service center, I would like to confirm that this is highly unusual with my camera.  I have 2 other batteries and they do the same thing.  My test was without a battery grip.

I have instances na naiiwan kong naka on ang unit sa pelican it stays their until next shoot. Pag ginamit ko na buhay pa ang battery, could be nag auto sleep lang unit. Hindi ba nag sleep mode ang cam after sometime?

May settings bang ganon?  Puro caffeine siguro ang camera ko at ayaw matulog.  ;D

Kailangan sukatin yung current consumption.

By calculation:
Kung yung battery ay 1500mAh divided by 250uA, ang result 6000 hours

Check if any function is running, under operation kasi, around 250mA ang consumption (6hours). Kapag liveview: 1600mA max (less 1hr)

Try removing the lens to isolate the problem.

PS. In Warranty pa kasi yang D800 kaya di ko pa nahihipo
Yung specs, pang D3,D700,...yan
Yung mga smaller cameras mas mababa ang current consumption, di lalampas ng 200uA
Kapag mahal ang camera, siempre mahal ang parepair

I just checked EN-EL15, 1900mAh pala ang capacity ng battery
Let's say ang current consumption ng D800 ay 350uA, (that's worst case assumption considering a D300s drains only 150uA or less) halos 5400 hours pa rin bago maubos ang battery.

Something is not right.
