whatever happened here already? maybe di na to rereplyan so the issue would die on its own, baka stipulated na rin sa new contract na if there's a problem, please don't post it in the forums. or else we won't pay - something like that.hehe.  :D

in fairness, summit has helped give good name to local photographers but we have a long way to go in giving what is due to the local professionals. in fact, as much as there are already a lot of talented pool of photographers here, i get to see foreign photographers in the local publications! im not anti foreign - im just pro pinoy. magaling tayo dito, we just have to erase that "mas magaling ang maga kano" mentality.

besides, we need the money more than they do. I mean, di ba, support da lokal! ;D

hello all,
Would you like to meet and iron out these issues? I have been working succesfully protecting musicians\'s IP rights with the AMP. I would volunteer my services to help out. Dapat matapos na to. BTW you are all covered by the IP law. But there is the clause of the collective agency that has to be addressed. Umbrella org that has to enforce and collect all IP mechanicals. e.g. Filscap, BMI. I'm sure meron tayo dito. Or wala ba? i'm wlling to give my time for this. Of course give me the corresponding time also, yun lang. Thanks.

For this year yata Summit is cutting down photog expenses - last year they had the Candy Prom Tour and kinuha ako at lower than usual rate.  I heard from an ex-staff there that sinabihan daw sila bakit kelangan may photog, why not bring their point and shoot.  It's mid Feb already and not a peep from them about this year's Prom Tour.  Either no more Tour or they decided on a point and shoot option.

Or they got students who do the job for 1,500, like what happened daw sa Candy fair.

Pati raw overtime and meals ng staff when they set up events ng FHM questioned.  Ano ba naman yung bayaran at pakainin mo yung taong nagpuyat just to set up the stage?

Hi Tots,

I'm also willing to help. How do we get started?

At the same time, we can institute business guideliness for the photographic/creative industry. Just wishful thinkinig. But I've always wanted our industry - especially graphic design and photographic industry - to raise the bar further in terms of its professionalization. The term "freelance" connotes that the "creative professional" is "in-between" jobs and could not command the same respect as like a doctor or lawyer, for example.

Yup i think most magz do this all the time, they put your name on the beginning page of the article or acknowledge you as contributors then pay you darn low low rates as they think they've totally paid you for publishing your name in tiny little text within the magazine then they grab your transparencies (this was before digital) & then now they let you sign a *toink* contract. Very Unfair... we photographers Pro & Amateur must do something about these exploitive people & act against these shameless suckers.  >:(
There will always be people who couldn't afford our regular rates
There will always be people who'll try to get as much for as little as possible
Most often, people will try to get the lowest price for a QUALITY commodity.
I'm sorry I'm confident about my work . I would not compromise the qualilty by offering low packages.

I think the summit issue has been resolved since I have started to notice that Louie A, the thread starter, have photos appearing in summit magazines already.

but if the contract they let photographers sign prior to shoot is the same, i think that's still *toink* !

For most of the seasoned photographers, shooting for a MAG is nothing to be proud of kc it's either "NO PAY" (EX-DEAL) or "LOW PAY" - if u get lucky there's a good pay but it'd be a miracle. It's like trying to get clients indirectly but if your already well known in the industry it looks as though there's not much to it na. I guess that's why some (not all) glossy magz try to exploit newbies that want to try anything for free. Sana they would not do this as it's exploitive in nature in it's own way. Dats my 2cents opinion  ;D

Why would the contract still be the same? Did you backread?

http://www.pinoyphotography.org/forum/index.php?topic=7438.msg93979#msg93979 --> that's from October 2006

While this thread was made a sticky so that photographers will never forget the issue, agitating without any prior background doesn't help at all.

I think the summit issue has been resolved since I have started to notice that Louie A, the thread starter, have photos appearing in summit magazines already.
