Seriously, how do you pose a severely overweight person so he would not look like a blob in the picture?

Try to pose them in an oblique position from the cam, this will tilt their body a bit then they should stand stright to give the illusion that they are kinda tall and then take an angle a little upward tilt.

Sharing some more... Here are some posing guides I found over the internet...  :)

Female Poses http://rapidshare.com/files/63412150/Female_Poses.rar
Male Poses http://rapidshare.com/files/63412479/Male_Poses.rar

From these poses I advice that you do some variations by moving other parts of the body and shoot from different angles... be playful...  ;D

Look at pics in Deviantart.com for posing ideas. Lots of self portraits there that are original so pro photographers won't accuse you of copying their shots.

Also as a guideline, if your model feels awkward / uncomfortable doing a certain pose, then it means it's actually a good pose. Because exaggerating body poses will look good on cam but not in real life.
Set a mirror correctly and it will lie so convincingly

Equipment doesn't make you a better photographer, but it does help take better photographs

Padagdag pa!!!  Pero eto para sa photographer, hindi para sa poser.

1. When trying to take full face portraits, try to position one of his/her eyes in one of the diagonals of the frame.  Or the best is try placing the person's right eye on one of the point of thirds (rule of thirds)
2. If there is a horizontal line in the background, make sure it is level and doesn't cross near the subject's face.

 :P

Nice thanks.. very informative
