wala ba kayong secret na site to gather info on photography? share naman. mag e-eight months na po ang 350d ko at wala pa rin clue paano mag shoot sa manual mode. its either too dark ang photo or over-exposed. thanks

Theres no secret. But one thing it can helped you is practice. "learn from your mistake" Modern camera has a built in meters it will tell you if you have normal exposure or over and under. Just look at the indicator, be sure that its in the middle and youll be fine.

I agree with TiNio eb's and photo op's will greatly help. :)

shoot ka lang ng shoot, just like what tekgik said, learn from your mistakes. Shoot view and delete! hehehe

maswerte pa kayo at digital na gamit nyo, di na kayo ganong gagastos sa film in making such mistakes. Unlike nung panahon na naguumpisa pa lang kami in film, maumulubu ka talaga, and you'd have to wait pa na madevelop ang film mo para lang makita mistakes mo. Take the advantage of having a digital camera.

mag VA ka from the experts, join a club or a group (such as this) and go out and shoot, learn from each other - masmadali at masarap matuto ng may kasama kang iba kaysa sa nagiisa. Always take notes on your shots and settings, and compare notes with your photo buddies.

experiment with your camera, using manual mode....try different combinations of shutter speed, aperture, ISO setting, etc and learn to use the 350d metering plus take note of the histogram reading.

A diffuser covering your light source makes the light softer by reducing its intensity and lowering the contrast.

A diffuser filter over your lens softens the image and may cause highlights to have a 'glow'.

Cheers!

Hi,

What happens if you overlap a CPL on a UV filter? does it cause focusing problems? or it is just my CPL that is broken. Sometimes I am just too lazy to remove the UV filter so I end up overlaping them. hehe  ;D Too add, what happens if you use a CPL on overcast days? is it just to reduce the reflections on leaves etc..?

Thanks in advance.

thanks sir. :) follow up question po, a diffuser covering the light source is different from a diffuser filter? i read on another topic that a tissue maybe used as a diffuser. that is to cover the light, right? how bout yung diffuser filter?

A diffuser filter is the one used to cover the lens, not the light source.

Yung tissue ginagamit na pang diffuse ng light source, but not the lens.

DIFFUSERS (in FILTERS)
Maraming pwedeng gamiting diffuser filter (lens filter), aside from buying standard lens filters (like diffuser 1, 2, 3, soft filters, etc.) pwede ring gumamit ng stockings na ibabanat mo sa lens mo, others use their sweat or even saliva and smudge it over the lens to attain that soft/blurry and glowing (but sharp) look on their subjects. Ginagamit din ang diffusers (also soft filters) to attain soft skin lalo na in doing portraits ng people with facial blemishes (pimples etc.) and wrinkles, thru these filters nababwasan yang mga facial problems na yan.

DIFFUSERS (in LIGHT SOURCE)
Kung kelangan naman palambutin ang intensity ng liwanag over your subject - here's where a light diffuser is needed.
Pansinin mo yung shadow na bumabagsak sa subject mo, if solid and dark ang shadows - naturally harsh or malakas ang lighting mo, hence malaki ang contrast. To make the light softer, dyan napapasok ang diffuser over your light source. Normally sa mga flash ginagamit ang diffuser - if you have an external flash unit common na nabibiling diffusers is the sto-fen, lightsphere, etc. Kung out of budget pwede rin DIY na diffusers like plastic bottles cut in half then isasaksak sa flash. Others use paper - bond paper, tissue paper, tracing paper, etc.
Other technique sa pagdiffuse is bouncing  the flash to the ceiling or to the fall or shooting thru a piece of cloth - anything na mababawasan ang intensity of light papunta sa subject.
