The famous photo..from flatrock.org.nz. Should get us thinking this Christmas season.

I read from an article before that when he took this photo he just left they boy as rebels are coming. I think that the mere incident that he did nothing to save the child triggered his suicide.

Did you know that when Ansel Adams shot his famous photo Moonlight Hernandez, he couldnt find his meter and just guessed on the exposure?

oh if i may add to my previous post.

Ansel Adams' exposure guessing was the early form of the zone system of exposure (which he co-invented)

    * 1973 - Fairchild Semiconductor releases the first large image forming CCD chip; 100 rows and 100 columns.
    * 1975 - Bryce Bayer of Kodak develops the Bayer filter mosaic pattern for CCD color image sensors
    * 1986 - Kodak scientists develop the world's first megapixel sensor

Canon produce the fastest lens with an effective aperture of f 0.95 in 1961. CANON 7, labeled as the monster had a 72 mm filter size.

For a consumer lens, it is. But "fastest lens", I think, belong to Zeiss' f/0.7 lens

Did you know that shutter speed doesn't or have little effect on flash?  Provided it is the prime source of light, flash can freeze action. The reason is the extremely short duration that it emits light on the subject and only a single motion in a series of action is lit. The rest of the motion in a series of action are not captured, even with a extremely slower shutter speed, simply because of absence of light befalling on them.

In flash photography, what the shutter speed controls  is only the ambient light so much so that the use of a faster shutter speed, say 1/250 of a sec., in a low light situation will render the background extremely dark. Conversely, the use of a slower shutter speed, 1/10 of a sec. will considerably reveal the ambient light in the bacgkround.

Ha ha ha, did I state it right? I'm trying to learn flash photography just yet.

Very truly yours, Bengot
