Best recommended point and shoot Camera today
« on: January 13, 2017, 07:11:24 AM »
Hi Guys!! I have been out of the photography hobby for quite sometime now.. maybe I am one of the many hobbiest that faded away and stopped photography for almost 10 years already.

I would just like to seek you advise because I am interested to buy a new point and shoot camera. In short, I am not satisfied with my iphone 6 camera and would like to upgrade.. Can you suggest what is the best point and shoot camera nowadays with the following minimum requirement;
1.) quality pictures
2.) handy
3.) affordable
4.) beat brand
5.) selfie capable

Can you post price and where i could possibly score a deal..

Appreciate your feedbacks.. Thank you very much and Mabuhay ang Pinoy Photography!!

how much is your budget range?

hmmm... you might want to consider the mirrorless system with fix lens?

example is the fujifilm x70 at 35k to 40k i think. this will satisfy your 1, 2, and 4 requirements above. :)

Dami ngayon but let us stop calling it Point and Shoot but rather "compact cameras".
Ist : Sony Rx100 series
       RX100 I ....around 15k ( approx)
       RX100 II    20K
       RX 100 III  30-35K
       RX100  IV  38-40K with 4K ( umiinit lang)
       RX100 V    50K with 4K
Sony a5000 ( it is interchangeable but very cute.)

If you don't need a 4k video the best bang for the buck is the RX100 III...you can actually get cheaper if you look around carefully. But a brand new with Sony warranty cost around that

2nd Panasonic mFT format
      GM1
      GM5
GX850/GX800/GF9 with 4K (depends on what region you are)....this is the latest. Remember these three although compact, it is a miracle that you can interchange the lenses. Prices of those varies, I am not updated but it is cheaper than the Sony RX100 series.

Cropped panasonic MFT...LX100 and maybe the upcoming LX200

Pansononic 1 inch sensor : LX10

Fujifilm
X100T with fixed f2 lens..just visit the local website for pricing but there are lots of used being sold around.
X100F...to be announced at the end of the January 2107.
Fujifilm X70...just look around for few remaining units . There might be no new ones arriving because Sony discountinued the 16mp sensor.

There are still a lot of offerings from Canon but I am not familiar with those. Maybe others can post those.

It is very hard to make a recommendation as all of those are very good already.

My suggestionis get a compact interchageable cam in case magsawa ka sa lens nya. The Fujifilm x-a3 is a vey good camera. Buy the body and put on 23 f2....very good for selfies LOL.

Wish you all the luck and hope you will rekindle your passion. A lot have gone already and there are just a few remnants here.

i would also vote for the Sony RX100 series.  very good cam.  you can get the older models if you don't need the features of the newer models.  image quality i think minimal upgrades from the old to the new.

+1 on Sony RX100 III using this. it as 4k recording for five minutes with the correct SD card.

for really point and shoot that is very pocketable with selfie feature i think canon N series is ok. i really dont know the price of these since i am not a canon user but the cam is really small.

i am predominantly a sony alpha user but have zero knowledge of the usability of the rx series. they have e-mount that have interchangeable lenses and lcd screens that flip to face the front for selfies, the lowest and oldest model that i know that can do that is the sony Nex 3n and would probably be cheap right now even there in the philippines.

i still hate the menu of the olympus but they have some good m43 cameras and they have good AF system.

panasonic is very good when it comes to video second to none.. sony could be better but it overheats past the 10minute recording time IN MOST situations.

i have just played with a recently revived Fuji x10 which i bought for scraps a few days back and i am loving the handling and image quality of this very old camera model. the only thing i can say of the fuji.. if you hold one.. you would really want to own one.
