was scouting for a good spot for the upcoming Singapore National Day Parade at the Singapore National Stadium..below shot from Tanjong Rhu..

sony A7+minolta 11-18 lens at 18mm which is roughly the equivalent of 14mm on a full frame lens..
we have roughly a full month every saturday evening to scout for spot to take some fireworks before the actual parade on 9 August..

below is a 2 image combined shot of the stadium with the fireworks.

based on the above, i have enough space to use probably an 18mm and above lens.. good spot for those with apsc camera and kit lens unlike when the venue was done at Marina Bay wherein the only usable lenses are wide to ultra wide lens

forgive my ignorance but is 18mm still 18mm in a7's 35 mm sensor? I am not familiar with minolta but that is how it is with nikon and canon regardless whether the lens is dx or fx....maybe you are in crop mode..thank u

the Konica Minolta 11-18 is an uwa lens made for APSC. it was one of the last lenses made by minolta for the 5D and 7D body before they sold everything to sony. Sony has an 11-18 DT lens which is a rebranded minolta 11-18 lens. the sony equivalent cost a lot. I can use it in crop mode in the A7 with no issues other than having only 12mp raw file OR i disable crop mode and use the entire sensor but it will vignette from 11 to 13 and only usable in full frame from 14mm onwards without any corner vignetting.

i bought my copy mint a few years back from a guy who is off-loading all his minolta glass and i got this one dirt cheap even though it was in mint condition with the box and all..

anyway i also have another uwa lens in canon EF mount, a tokina 12-24 F/4 which i bought 2 weeks ago and also cheap because it has an aperture problem.. (aperture can only close up to f5.6, above it and it will register an error 99 on a canon body so im guessing probably the aperture board, cable problem).. anyway it cost me only $50 or only less than 2k peso.. it can auto focus so i will probably try it on the A7 once i get an EF adapter that can auto focus..havent decide on opening it up as i dont know anything about eletronics on lenses.
