Sony's really out to establish itself as a major player. They even added 2 new 2.8 Zeiss Lenses to match the A900.

Yup, they now have their own f/2.8 Trinity from 16mm to 200mm.

While the specs seem nice, I hope they also improve on the design next time. Kinda looks a bit boxy to me (esp. the edges on the hotshoe).

Interesting..makes you think what lies ahead. I am not upgrading my body this year. I will stick with my old d80 and to Nikon system. I don't think one camera brand has a great advantage over the other these days....the era of monopoly in technology is over....time to save for those great lenses!!!!Maybe time will come also when it does not matter whether it is a full frame or cropped...or maybe the days of DSLR will be soon be over too. We can get rid of that mirror and stop calling our cameras DsLR. It is not written in the wall yet but technology  is developing so fast!!!....seems just like yesterday when I was just using a P@S film camera(Instamatic)...never thought Sony will be here too.

I had a chance to play with the A900 today at a 'secret' Sony launch event here in Toronto.  I keep thinking that the A900 is an A700 (the camera that I own) with a few extra features.  The A900 is physically, slightly larger with some nicely placed textured plastic/rubber.  I will have to think long and hard about upgrading, although the fact that it is a full frame sensor (I am sick of the APS-C sized sensor), may be the clincher.  That and the fact that I can finally fully utilize my Carl Zeiss lenses and my fisheye!

The Intelligent Preview was a nice feature.  With it, you "take a photo" with the DOF button and the photo is buffered (not written to the card).  On the rear LCD screen you can change several settings (white balance, f-stop, colour balance, exposure value, etc).  Once you have found the settings that you like, press the shutter and the photo is taken using those settings.  Interesting.

impressive! i have been fond of sony during my p&s days and they are innovative! i have seen the samples at dpreview and ISO 1600 is good enough for me! and what a great array of lenses! a lot of lenses i would have wanted on the D3.

love the 135 F1.8!

1 x A900 + CZ + SAL 24-70 + SAL 70-200 + CZ 16-35= $ 8,400

Atrocious :(

But in my last visit to HK, Sony is WELL supported there... lots of stores carry their gear so shouldn't be no different than Nikon grey owners.

Im not sure, but im not quite impress with the IQ of this camera... at ISO 400... the image looks rather soft (not that solid) compare to image taken from canon 50d and nikon d90. I was expecting better overall image sharpness from a full frame camera. Just my observation though

dalawang beses na din ako nagpa repair sa Sony HK, very very fast ang service nila, pag sinabing 3 days, 3 days talaga. Minsan mas mabilis pa sa naka sched na pick up date. Very professional.
