Yan ang dapat ma correct ng Fuji for them to sell a lot of this.
I hope this will not be in the real cam. ;D ;D ;D. I am still a fan of range finder form than SLR like one. The world is round indeed. The "SLR" is coming back to life, walang lang film at mirror. It looks like a Fuji Df. Sana it will perform as expected. It is just expensive lang 1200-1300 USD for body alone kung may kit lens mga 1600-1800 USD rin. Di malayo ang price sa 6D, D610 o A7. I hope this is not a hyped cam and I doubt the Af speed ,fps and tracking.

I bet there will be quirks all over. That's how it is with Fuji, ever since.

Kamukha niya yung Df, nalipat lang yung exposure comp dial.

I see. Still, cannot get the rationale why they incorporated that "hump" on this new offering. If they're after a larger field of view. Would have been better if it came as an attachment. But that's just me wishful thinking.

hindi ko rin type yung humps, ang laki-laki pa nung naka banderang brand. sa x-series, xpro1 talaga ang pinakamagandang design for me, next is x100s. :)

kailangan kasi nila gayahin sa lumang SLR nila at kunan ng share ang OMD type market dito which are selling well here in japan. :o :o :o

Rare naman yong Fuji, few will know except the hobbyist. ;D ;D ;D.

Looking forward to hearing the reviews once this one is officially released.  Really does look like a Mini DF.  When I saw the teaser pics, yun agad pumasok sa isip ko.  Mini DF.  Looks good din with the Grip but makes it look huge.

I am still skeptic about the AF speed:
"World’s fastest AF of 0.08 seconds "......i hope so.

But going back in time they claimed the same with x100s and quoting from Fujifilm website:
"Equipped with both the super fast phase detection AF system, and contrast AF for accurate focusing in dark scenes, Intelligent Hybrid AF instantly switches to the optimal focusing system. Applying the fastest algorithm depending on the subject and scene, Intelligent Hybrid AF can bring your subject into focus in the blink of an eye — only 0.08 sec*. at its fastest speed so those priceless moments will never escape your lens."

If this a true blue blooded speed demon, I will get one. I have a year to find it out though. I won't jump and run to buy it. Besides, the following lenses won't be available right away:
XF18-135mmF3.5-5.6 R OIS WR, XF16-55mmF2.8 R OIS WR and the XF50-140mmF2.8 R OIS WR.

Walang disclaimer sa af speed?
Usually, they specify the conditions under which they achieve that number.

It is an advertisement in the website so it is the marketing team's claim....but  it could be in a bright sunlight with multicontrast  and non moving subject....I supposed. In spite of that I still love my x100s.

From the press release

"The X-T1 can also shoot up to 8 frames per second*7 with tracking AF and is the first-ever CSC*8 to be compatible with SDXC UHS-II format memory cards for data writing speed (in Continuous Mode) that is approximately twice that of a conventional SD card."

Also, in the footnotes, the 0.08sec tested with the 14/2.8.

There is something in Fuji that even though it is a temperamental camera, people still love it.I can't keep a lot of camera, so there is a possibility that I will let go my x100s for this. Aray ko, I will surely miss the leaf shutter. I just can't give up my DSLR system kasi.

mukhang papatok 'to sa landscape photographers.

- weather and dust proof sealing
- freeze resistance to -10°C (pwedeng pwede sa Mt. Pulag)
- tiltable OLED display

Goodbye Phottix kasi merong nang:
- remote smartphone and tablet tethering
- built-in intervalometer

Waging-wagi pa sana kung nilagay din nila yung built-in ND filter tulad nung nasa X100 at x100s

ang pinakamalaking tanong. How will the battery hold out, given that there are so many new features to the EVF?

No need to gas.

I like the dual display screen and the Portrait mode where the display rotates.  I wonder if we can get this on the XE2 by Firmware update?  And also changing the colors for Focus Peaking?  Very good to see they included the Intervelometer.  I wonder how much better or faster yung AF over the XE2?  Hope to be able to try one of these.  Mern daw lauching ata nito sa Photo World on Dec. 2

Pagmaganda ang AF as advertised kukuha ako nito.

I also want to wait for the reviews ng XT1 and to see the actual size of the camera.  Pero so far so good. Eto naman XT1 looks like a mini DF kaya parang na papaisip ako.

The X-T1 is not cheap either but the weight will surely be loved by my aging back.

Agree with your sentiments Doc.  We are in the same boat.

Pareserve kayo, pero they will take advantage of the gas feeling ng mga tao. Ingat kayo sa Gas!! GAS gas bulsa nyo.

That was before FujiPhil came in. The importers and resellers made some killing. The X100s was around 48-50K but after few months it settled between 45-47K until now. The prices are even stable. The x-e1 stayed above 40K with kit lenses despite the coming over of the X-e2. However tama ka, mahal pa rin as compared to other brands but at least the prices are comparable to other countries when based on US dollars. The good thing , there is  Fuji service here like Canon.Other brands are not yet established.I hope Oly will make its presence here. There a lot of Oly fans in the Philippines I hope they will take notice. Fuji presence will be stronger since they already have an optical assembly in Laguna and rumors are some camera might be done here too.The prices will not be cheaper in spite of that though. When you commit into a system that is one thing to consider....mahal talaga ang Fuji.I hope they will continue to render good after sales services. These days almost all cameras are very good, and  after sales  available and accessible or even just a semblance of it will win a lot of customers.
IMHO

XT1 + 10-24 = sweet Love! ;D

I was also able to try it kanina sa Fuji booth. I feel the AF is almost the same sa XE2 ko. I didn't find it to focus noticeably raster them my XE2.  I really like the dual screen mode as well as when the info on the EVF auto rotate when you take vertical shots. I didn't get to try the intervelometer as there where others who wanted to try out the camera.  The EVF is really nice. The battery grip also feels very good to hold and use.  I wanted to see what this new auto predict AF was, but didn't have enough time kanina.

Was also able to try the XT1 yesterday. Tested the continuous auto focus by shooting people walking sideways and people walking towards and away from the Fuji booth. Based on those limited conditions, okay yung AF niya. I would say 95% of my shots were in focus.

I think the idea is good but this will be far-fetched as native lenses are made, of course for their brand's use. Even third party manufacturers make lenses specific for different brands like Sigma and Tamron :)

Title: Re: New Fuji camera - XT1?
Post by: pitbull on February 14, 2014, 12:14:03 AM

final notes:
very promising but still not there. kung madami akong pera at hindi issue sa akin mag 2x system at space kukunin ko ba ito? malamang!

Baka kukuha ako nito pagganon pero not on its current price.Mumura din yan after 1 year.
I will not run to get this.

Pag nag stabilize na yung prices ng X-T1, 56/1.2 at 10-24 OIS at wala pa reng FF dual pixel ang Canon or umayos ang local distro ng Lumix or Olympus, shift na

Mukhang out of the mirrorless options best compromise ang Fuji XF system

May service center sa Makati
Good Hi ISO capability
Still relatively small enough lenses to go with the small bodies
Adequate number of lenses available from OEM and 3rd Party
Good history of after sales towards its customers firmware wise

To say it's almost like my D3 is probably too much. But for a mirrorless camera it does achieve DSLR levels of AF accuracy, shot-to-shot speed, and ergonomic operability. In short, I didn't miss my D3.

Medyo hyped sa internet ang X-T1..I hope it will live up to the expectations. I decided to sit on this and I will buy when the prices have gone down for my allotted budget. The pre orders  doubled from the usual so it will take a longer period of time for Fuji to catch up. That means ang tagal pa ako makabili or di na tuluyan makabili.

regarding the AF speed of the XT1 compared to the other Fuji units, id say they have done some big improvements with the XT1. when I had the X100 before, medyo tentative ang focusing talaga. parang nalilito ang camera even in well lit places. the X100s made some big improvement naman na but i think the XT1 takes it even further. it locks instantly with accuracy. personally basta wag lang mala X100 ang AF im fine with it. IMHO most of us would hardly care at all if its not the fastest out there unless of course you are a serious sports shooter. its focusing speed is more than enough for most users. :)

I can also compare it with the OM-D, which I shot with for more than a year. I actually stopped using my D3 since I got the OM-D, and the X-T1 is just about the same with focusing speed. But  at least the X-T1 tracks and that's a big difference. And the EVF doesn't freeze when bursting and this allows you to maintain framing of a moving subject. Napabilib ako, honestly.

I am just critical about the AF speed because of Fuji's marketing scheme. The AF is not what Fuji's claim with my x100s.It is my personal experience.Well, in the end I do not care that much since I've learned to live with it. I've learned to shoot with the fixed lens and its temperamental AF acquisition.
The X-T1 seems to be different ( I hope).Maybe Fuji's marketing is right this time. However,my doubts persist but it is now diminished. It is beginning to tempt  me..The only thing that I am worried is , this is a system camera. That means there will be a tremendous amount of money to be shelled out. I have a DSLR system and I have a huge investment on  lenses.Another thing is the lenses seems to be getting bigger for Fuji. The idea of small and light is getting away. The bigger deal for me is the presence of Fuji in the Philippines. That means someone will take care of our Fuji's when the gear gets sick. I have to make a decision somewhere along the road when I will find out sooner or later if the mirrorless can now replace my Nikon system. The Nikon system is great but there is no real local support. The mFT is a mature system but like Nikon, we will never know if their presence will be felt in the Philippines....long live Canon and Fuji for staying in the Philippines.

That could be dangerous for me financially.. ;D ;D ;D

Nya!!

Ang bright side is the Fuji Phil..

regarding the AF speed of the XT1 compared to the other Fuji units, id say they have done some big improvements with the XT1. when I had the X100 before, medyo tentative ang focusing talaga. parang nalilito ang camera even in well lit places. the X100s made some big improvement naman na but i think the XT1 takes it even further. it locks instantly with accuracy. personally basta wag lang mala X100 ang AF im fine with it. IMHO most of us would hardly care at all if its not the fastest out there unless of course you are a serious sports shooter. its focusing speed is more than enough for most users. :)

Joke lan Doc  ;), So far contented pa ako sa xe1 ko and im happy shooting with it. But Its good to hear that Fuji is listening to its market and continue improving their products. BTW i think there is another firmware update for our x series, It will benefit the  xe2 and xt1 AF tracking.

ive been also looking to replace my very old Nikon system and im currently looking at this XT1 system. there's no question with regards to Fuji IQ, my X100 before has that fantastic IQ and the only draw back is that horrible AF. I was looking at the EM1 or perhaps the pulling the trigger on a Pentax system when this XT1 came out, saktong sakto ang specs sa hinahanap ko. that amazing EVF, AF speed that's fine with me, fantastic IQ and take it anywhere capability just like the EM1 and Pentax K3. i wont mind if the system is a bit bigger than normal mFTs, after all APS-C yan and the lenses cant be smaller like the 4/3 system and mas magaan pa rin naman sa conventional DSLR. i already gave up on the mythical Nikon D400, pangarap nalang siguro talaga yon and Im not that crazy on getting a Full Frame, I just cant justify the price and the need for top quality glass. this XT1 is just what I need. antay antay lang na bumaba ang presyo. ;D

Mukhang nakakatakot pa bumili ng X-T1 kasi when one says it is great everyone repeat the same in chorus. Then when one said otherwise the parrots will bite the blower. ;) ;)  I have to wait a little longer para di ako mapaso.  :) :) .....it will settle in a price that I am willing to pay.

That's approximate the  prices from  online shops abroad. It is quite encouraging.I hope Fuji prices will stay that way.

Baka after 6 months. The prices of x20 and x100s stabilized quite a bit and the reduction is quite significant. So it will not be far fetch if it will go down to that level.

Yeah, I also find its price quite high. That was also one of the reason I didn't get into the X pro 1. I though it was a bit over priced.

Tama kayo Doc na the price is not far from a Canon 6D or Nikon 610 and both are FF. Then again those will be heavy to use. For travelling the XT1's weight will be very welcome compared to the bigger DSLR. Sa wallet lang yung mabigat sa XT1. :)

I think 50k-60k is a reasonable price for the XT1 with kitlens  :). Tama c Doc, yung prices nya ngayon is in direct competition with a fullframe DSLR. Unlike if you go fullframe, you will need to buy a good quality lens to maximize the power of your sensor, which is a little bit pricey.

35mm 60mm and 18mm are below 30k. Kahit yung 18-55 and 55-200 below 30k lang din.

The fuji lenses are way better than kit lens and even some primes of dslrs. Pagkakagawa pa lang kadalasan metal construction talaga, which i think is cheap compared to other lenses.

True, fuji lenses are made of metal. The 18-55mm is a winner in terms of build and performance. 35mm is 22k @ henry's 18-55mm is 25-26k. Mahal lang tlga ang fuji lalo na pag bagong labas like the 23mm, 56mm, and the XT1.  Buying the body with the lens with save you alot of money  ;).

in fairness to Fuji, mahal ang kit lens nila dahil 2.8-4 ang opening, plus it has an aperture ring. i think the XT1's price, despite being that expensive is justified with that ton of features. minsan di na rin sensor size ang basehan, if you look at the EM1, mas mahal pa ata sa XT1. base sa features other than sensor size na ang pagkamahal ng camera ngayon ata. while its true na you can get a D610 or 6D if you add a little more, it will apply to those who crave for FF only, for travel or Landscape, para sakin mas piliin ko pa rin ang XT1. just my 2 cents.

I haven't made up my mind if I will go into FF format or not and after several years I am still undecided.I already have the lenses for that. However, that was several years ago when I was about to migrate to Nikon FX. The thing is it is all about the timing....and being pickle minded to some extent. It was the time when DX cameras were improving. I was shooting with a borrowed FX for a few months. My nephew lent the d700 for me to play. After 2 weeks I was using my d7000 more because I found the d700 plus 24-70 too heavy. I was delighted with the 35mm sensor and its IQ. I did not complain of its size since I am a very patient shooter but its the weight that I can't bare.It is a physical thing. Then after that  here comes some nice options from mFT,Sony and Fuji.It was a very confusing time. Too many cam but so little money.Been trying, borrowing and buying this and that. Then I decided to take home a new x100s. Now, I am still keeping my aging Nikon d7000 with no plans of getting an FX cam. The x100s unloaded some weight from my usual arsenal. It also changed the way I see things and my perspective.Perhaps I will shoot with those for a long time but I will unload a lot of my FX lenses. The X-T1 may provide a window of opportunity to further cut down the weight. Xt-1 plus 18-55 and d7000 +70-200Vr2 is a great combination for my personal needs. Our choice of our tools are very personal. Yesterday we don't have these choices. We only have APS-C or FF (35mm) to pick from. In fact there were times that it was just about CaNikon. Surely, the X-T1 may not be for everyone. It is a hyped camera for now.If it is going to live up to its expectation, I will find my way waiting for a long time till the prices will go down. Perhaps to cut the waiting a little shorter, I can sell some of my unused lenses then bite the bullet and give in to Gas. Time will tell.

How will it translate to individual shooting style it is up for you to decide.Whether to embrace fuji now is also upto you or wait for awhile, maybe a year. For most maybe mirrorless will be enough for the working pro maybe not..They still need this:

(https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/v/t34/1974664_10202437499351869_405640068_n.jpg?oh=31ea3023b829dc19b36f5879c0a6bca7&oe=5312ABC6&__gda__=1393754632_af75fe88e2c59262022c720c94a015db)

(https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/v/t35/1959198_10202437499391870_289345525_o.jpg?oh=8eb7aec1b1561ba0e78cf5952bdbffa6&oe=531292B0&__gda__=1393741374_e09308c3f92ad70ef24373fa35ebc2d5)

Isa pa ito, sa mesa nagfofocus nung una, so inadjust ko na lang distance ko while in half-press para makafocus sa eyeglasses.
(https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/v/t35/1972826_10202437508392095_1086440277_o.jpg?oh=f2f7ab12ac126d483cfe11bcfff1930f&oe=5312A86E&__gda__=1393721848_23e107cf127401b296fa44dd1bec2994)

Magmanual focus na lang but not with fuji lens.

consistency :o :o :o yun alam kong kaya kong kumuha shot after shot.

Yan din ang hinahanap ko kaya I don't jump on the X-T1. Baka kasi ma frustrate ako sa X-T1 kung di sya ganin ka consistent.I will wait for Fuji to figure it out properly even if that means waiting for the X-t2 or X-Pro2 pero pag OK sa X-T1 I don't have to wait that long.

otherwise, for general shooting OK na OK na yung X-T1. ok naman siya sa low light mag AF, as in parang national museum, or sa hotel lobby na medyo madilim. sa ganun conditions ko siya nasubukan. sa mga bibili nito, hintayin na lang ninyong bumaba ang presyo niyan. sa ngayon overpriced siya for what it can offer. ::) kung bumaba ng 48K yan body only, OK na. better kung 42K ::)

Thanks Mikko for the link. This regular Joe will surely consider the X-T1 when the right time and the right price will come along. I am not one of those who pre-ordered or made some reservations from FujiPhilippines. In few days from now some of my friends will get hold of this new cam.Hopefully they will have the same wonderful experience like you did with preproduction X-T1. That also answered the question why you laid your hands on it ahead of the rest of the pack.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/31768064@N03/sets/72157641695487064/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/31768064@N03/sets/72157641695487064/)

Remember  the d80 amp glow? I can't find the link but I read some forum members reporting a light leak when shooting in long exposure plus high iso probably thru the USB and speaker jack. I am confused whether  the amp glow or light leak are the same.Anyway, it is important for me because I love astrophotography. Maybe these are just trolls in the internet but I need to find out and I believe this can be easily fixed . You can check yours by opening the door to your USB and some connections and aim a flash light then shoot a slow shutter at high iso.I hope this is an isolated case.

in the forum it says that he used a 10 stop ND when he noticed the light leak so its the long exposure ang most likely affected by this issue. im sure this will be fixed right away, wag lang sana black tape ang solution gaya ng sa 5D mk3 nuon.

Comparing the d610 with 50mm and x-t1 with 18-55, made me thinking of just going the DSLR route since I already have the x100s. I casually shoot with my x100s plus d7000 plus 50mm these days. It will be cheaper for me since I won't worry about the lenses. I can always travel with my x100s alone.

Having a 2 cam system with 24-70 plus 70-200VR2 is very convenient during events. I will snatch the x-t1 when it is dirst cheap a year from now. The X system is great but too expensive maintaining a 2 system.

Just being practical.

Agree po Doc., that is why I am hesitant to get the Xt1. A D610 or D7100 will be more practical and value for money since I already have Nikon lenses and a Df along with the X100s :P

Ganon  talaga ang  buhay ngayon...fast pace, rat race, competition ,etc. Even companies like Fuji,Canon, Nikon, etc are pressured to design and release the holy grail...the next big thing camera. A break thru that will make the users freak out. In the process they neglected some small aspects of the X-t1. A light leak like this is not acceptable to some users who do long exposure photography. This is supposed to be a weather sealed camera. Well Sony A7 is having one . The Nikkor 24-70 has one too just to name a few. These are expensive pieces of equipment. Our gases are taking its toll among the designers and manufacturers.....baka maraming magsuicide sa Fuji nyan. It is a small issue...maybe.

If the solution is a black tape or similar OK lang but that is an insult to customers who bought it for the weather sealing....even if the access door is open (still wondering if ever I will do that!!!)

Anyway there are two known issues with the X-t1 and these are the light leak and a very uncomfortable 4 way nav at the back. Issues that cannot be remedied by FW upgrade. Another one is the lack of direct button to navigate the focus point. You need a two way step. Those coming from DSLR will never understand the inconvenience of this. Pardon me if I am becoming an armchair X-t1 users since I have not  touch this one. I will go to shops anytime this week or the next and I will see if these issues are true with the units landing in the Philippines. For now just go to your favorite shops and try it yourselves. These are just some facts that we gather from the web.Whether these informations are true or not, you have the choice to get into the bottom of this or not. In the end it is your wallet that gets thinner. I am sure the hype and the heat about this camera will cool down just like the Nikon Df. How significant these new issues will affect its popularity, we will know in the coming days. IMHO no one beats the d7000 phenomenon....it was a great run for the DX dynamite.Only a major earthquake interrupted its bull run. Cheers.

what i did is, sinet ko yung directional buttons to af selection so parang nikon lang. pero if you need quick access sa ibang settings at di mo pwede sacrifice yung directional buttons, set mo yung function button sa harap to af selection para convenient. :D

Yan Doc ang hinihintay ko, pero after the price stabilized maybe after 6mos to a year pairing with the 35mm + 56mm.

Nasa around how much kaya yun?

Sinusubukan ko rin sa akin. I tried long exposure and yung medyo short exposure, wala rin nalabas sa akin so sinwerte tayo. :)

Eric Kim reviews the Fuji XT-1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aE0KodmgccU (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aE0KodmgccU)

-Wasn't a fan of the X100s, says it had quirky AF. Likes the AF better on the XT1, as well as the shutter sound since he can tell if he took the shot

-Olympus OMD AF is faster, he needed to increase AF box size to get fast & quick AF, the small AF box would still hunt

-Prefers pancake 27/2.8 over larger 23/1.4

-Really good IQ, skin tones and colors, better than his previous 5D

New Rumor Says Sigma May Add Fuji X-Mount Lenses http://www.slrlounge.com/new-rumor-says-sigma-may-add-fuji-x-mount-lenses (http://www.slrlounge.com/new-rumor-says-sigma-may-add-fuji-x-mount-lenses)

Quote
A recent rumor says that Sigma may be gearing up to add Fuji X-Mount lenses to their lineup. This would be a HUGE benefit to both Sigma and Fuji if you ask me. One of my issues with Fuji has always been the relatively small assortment of lenses available. If Sigma were to add X-Mount support, that would be great for people looking for familiar glass on a new system.

In this case it is your want that will prevail. It is easy to see what you need but hard to find what you want. We  want all the gear, di ba? The bottom line is, will it not hurt your wallet? Cheers.

...haha! exactly sir. Bukod kase sa work ko, suma sideline din ako sa mga events like wedding/debut. I like the Fujifilm system kase andaling mag adjust ng settings, magaan sa balikat/leeg, and magaganda output nung mga lens nila. On the other hand, mga FF cameras, like the 5D series, de-kalibre na talaga pagdating sa mga wedding and other events. Eversince din na nag start ako mag photography (from 550D to 7D), di pa talaga ako nakapag own ng FF camera (pero nakagamit na ko). So parang may "little voice" na nagsasabi sa ken bumili din ako ng FF. :D

Planning to buy a camera narin kasi.

Thanks for sharing this Raffy. However, IMHO, the best test for the AF tracking is to shoot someone/object that is moving towards or away from you. I don't have an X-T1 so I can't test it. I think the AF tracking of the X-T1 works only at the center...but I don't really know. You can try it and share it with us. Thank you.

Thanks Doc, Tracking subject that is moving towards or away from you is more difficult to the AF system of the camera and is a more precise test. But still i'm happy to see a huge improvement on fuji's AF system considering that i use the slow xf 60mm.  ;)

Check out Henry's Camera and Mayer Photo. The ongoing cash price for the Camera with kit lens is around 71,000.00 and 55,000.00 for the Body. The 23mm is around 39,600.00.

Kulay lang naman yon. The X-T1 black and silver will receive all the features present in the graphite via firmware update. You can buy another prime lens with the 15K or add it up to your money and get the 56mm 1.2.

The firmware looks that it will overhaul the X-T1 camera:

http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital_cameras/x/fujifilm_x_t1/features/page_08.html (http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital_cameras/x/fujifilm_x_t1/features/page_08.html)

However, this looks like the X-pro2 will be more interesting and intriguing. I have not entered into the mirrorless bandwagon. The mFT will have also great offerings esp olympus' great new pro lenses.
For me  Fuji has an advantage because it has very good local support. Sony has local presence but poor support.

To all X-T1 users, I hope you will update your firmware when it will be released so we can have a better look  on what it is like. Thank you.

Being lured by Fuji ha?  ;D ;D ;D . The kitlenses are very good and so are the primes. It is all up to you. If I have my day, I will pick the 14mm/16mm, 23, 35, 56 and 90. If need to choose only 2 then a 16mm and 56mm. If you are into IR the Zooms like 10-24, 18-55 are not good. Their newer zooms are so big too. Since I have a DSLR system I will avoid the zooms , those are quite large. If I will change system I will get some zooms definitely. I gave in to the fuji's seduction but I only picked up the x100s plus conversion lenses.Maybe someday I will try their compact camera system though not hardly a compact at all with the zooms. One thing for sure Fuji's lenses are good performers...well, you will be at odd with the focusing speed but that is personal preference. My Nikkor 50G 1.4 is not that fast but it does not bother me. Fuji users are growing every day because the after sales service in the Philippines are excellent.

For me, a nice starter combo would be to go with the 35mm f/1.4 prime right off the bat.  For some people who prefer something a bit wider, they go for the 23mm f/1.4.  Both are good lenses but the 35mm is slightly cheaper.

There was a time when I was entertaining the idea of getting the X-T1 but I hesitated. Then there is the FW update and I thought it might be a good idea.....Oh well, maybe it ain't the time yet.

Seriously if you have sets of DSLR, the primes are good choices. If you only want this as your everyday carry cam. You can start with the 35mm 1.4. You can add the 14 or 16 later on when the prices are dropping. It is not bad to get an 18-55 plus 35mm 1.4.....

I think you are gassing!! ;D :D

@ Retina

I'm an X100 owner but I borrowed an X-T1 for a week for testing paired with the 35mm f/1.4.  I tried it during an event I covered under a mixed lighting environment, think white balance nightmare setup.  I still prefer the reliability of our Mark 1 eyeball.  When Liz Uy stood alongside her life-sized poster during book signing, the face/eye detection feature can be dodgy and locked on at the wrong subject.  With any camera, not just Fuji, it would be nice to have the ability to turn this function on or off in the menu if needed.  Without it, somehow, I think it speeds things up a bit.

Thank you Rich. I think some E-M1 users are raving for that feature but I am not sure how olympus performs on similar environment. The d750 which I have performs reasonably well in OVF and LV but I am not sure how better it is over the mirrorless. In dim light the d750 can nail it but how good it is over the other, I have no idea. Well, I still prefer to use AF-S Single point or group and the target the eye. I don't use Auto target....maybe I am not that confident enough to trust it. I belong to an old school of photographers that do not learn new tricks. Ha ha ha ha.
The beauty of the face detection on E-m1 is, it makes shooting portrait very handy and so easy. That's what they say!!! I was hoping that X-T1 can perform well so you can take advantage of the 56mm @ 1.2. The FW 4.0 mentioned that this one of the anticipated updates. I want this feature so I can learn new tricks. You won't expect much from DSLR but this a must feature for mirrorless camera IMHO.

Hi guys! Just wanna know if anyone here had issues with Fuji XT1's rubber skin peeling off? Because mine started to peel off and it's realy annoying. It seems to be the common issue of the XT1 from what I read online. I hope the service center does something about this as it is still under warranty.

I don't have an X-t1 but the peeling off  of the skin is an issue with this model. Installing a half case may prevent it from occurring. After a long use it is worth your while to clean the body with a damped cloth before storing it. Peeling off is not exclusive with the X-T1, my Nikon bodies are affected with this one too. After I've learned my lesson, I see to it that I clean the body before storage. I never touch the camera with wet hands. Wash my hand and dry it after touching food or drinks.
You can have it change at FujiPhil service center. I have no idea about the coverage of their warranty with this particular problem.

I read this after I read your reply on my other post. Thank you sir for the info. Although I never really experienced this with my Canon bodies it can also probably happen. As for the Fuji XT1, I'm just really kind of disappointed that it would start to fall apart that easy knowing how really expensive of a camera it is. I guess I should have bought the Gariz leather since day 1 but it's so expensive too. Lol. And the problem was more prominent on the area which won't be covered by the leather case anyway. I really hope this is covered under Fuji warranty. I read online that in Sydney and Malaysia they replaced it for free.

Some users have replaced it and I have no idea about the charges. I think you have to push the issue that it should be free. The problem is after the replacement it can recur again!!! That will make you more disappointed. Accept the fact that each camera has an issue but it is good to know that there is a service center right at our own backyard. Fuji after sales services are excellent. Of course, I am not sure about the expenses. I guess you have to visit them at their new office in Ortigas. Anyway, Nikon users have as bad experience as the Fuji. It is not peeling off but the leather is detaching from the body. So we used double sided tape to put it in place or use a special glue. As a consolation, all camera bodies have their own issues....kahit na high end product daw!!!!
