Tripod Recommendation
« on: May 25, 2006, 04:08:40 AM »
Hi Guys!  Ano ba marerecommend nyo na tripod na maganda and quality and budget friendly (around P2.5K). My camera is a Canon S2 IS, paggagamitan ko rin sya ng Mini DV Camcorder paminsan minsan. Minsan rin, gagamitin ko sya pagnagtravel, say 4x year. height ko mga 5'5" (incase if it matters in choosing a tripod). Hobbyist lang po ako.

Thanks,

Allan

You can try Velbon's DX or CX series. I have the former, DX-888, cost me exactly 2.5k. Quite sturdy and extends very long. Travel friendly din, not that heavy. :)

Check it out here: http://www.velbon-tripod.com/video.htm

I have the Velbon CX440 and it works fine and has a quick release plate.  Its mostly plastic, aside from the aluminum legs, but I have had it for almost 4 years and it shows no signs of warping or cracking.  I keep it in the trunk too so it gets exposed to extreme temperatures.

Newbie lang po.  Anong tripod ang marerecommend niyo kung ang kukunan ng photos ay ang mismong floor (sahig) or mga bagay na nakapatong sa sahig? Yung tipong nakatungo o nakaharap directly pababa yung camera. Salamat.

Bought the same model last Saturday sa JT.  I was supposed to get the CX444 of CX460 model but wala sila stock.  I tried the CX560 but it's just too big for my cam and me  :)

What shops in particular stock good tripods? I've been around there but never noticed where the good deals are on Manfrotto, Gitzo, and similar tripods.

Aperture Trading in Banawe, QC is also a good place to shop for tripods.
Nikon: (Sony) at the heart of the image.

 :)

You'll definitely want a sturdy, light, and with strong legs for those long lenses you eventually may acquire....

island photo is the philippine distributor of manfrotto. they have a wide selection in their main showroom in gamboa st., legaspi village, makati. if you really want gitzo, they might be able to order for you, not sure though. manfrotto acquired gitzo na kasi.
