I'm sure there will be other events like these. John is talking to the Autism Society of the Philippines. He might just pop up with another one of these ideas.

Why don't you do something like this in Mindanao. I'm sure there are other photographers there who share the same passion.

Sir Sarked,

I love what you wrote in page 5 and 4. I am sure this kind of shooting activities would quickly be duplicated. Your group can always claim you are the first and you add new meaning to taking pictures.

Thanks so much !

Sorry for a late post, I bumped into some problems during the weekend.

Last Saturday was a great day. We got to spend time with some new friends as they went around Manila Zoo to "see" the animals. I was kuya-for-a-day to Christine or Chinchin. Here are a few pics from that day...

everyone... meet john!

john was my little brother for that special day at the zoo... he loves music, sings in a choir, and can even play the violin... one thing about john though: he's not really fond of animals... his mom told me that john gets bothered whenever a dog brushes up his side at home... so to get john to go to the zoo... mom jeanette had to bribe john with an audio cd (apparently john's true love is music).

john was quite cautious when asked to touch the zoo animals... but was brave enough to give it a try:

here's john and mom exploring the zoo

here, john wondered why the ground was moving... so we tried our best to describe the hanging bridge and that there was a lagoon beneath him:

another animal encounter for john -the birds... john really didn't like this one. I know people with normal vision being scared to touch animals... so i can just imagine how uncomfortable it must have been for john to be near something you're afraid of and can't see...

so mom jeanette took over johns duty as a bird perch for the photo-op. john was more comfortable with this set-up ;D:

realizing that john really wasn't comfortable with animals... we tried to "ease him in" to touching the next animal:

here we asked john to just touch the tip of the croc's tail:

as it turn's out, manang was very good it convincing john to give it a try and soon enough fear was replaced by curiosity:

and john was even confident enough to touch the crocodile's head and feel the pointed teeth!

then it was time for john to meet mali. here's big john introducing little john to mali:

see! john is now brave enough to handle the biggest animal in the zoo!

although touching some of the animals seemed stressful to john i hope he and mom jeanette still had a memorable (and hopefully nice) experience at the zoo... i certainly had a great time... very tiring, but definitely worth it!

thanks again for sir john and ma'am linda for making this happen!

HI!!!, been wanting to see my daughter Chinchin's pix that day. . .thank you very very much for the photos, I had it sent to my email hehehe. . . Thanks din for the ones printed out for us, ha.

Inggit ako sa anak ko, she was able to go to the Manila Zoo and "experience" the animals. Haven't been there myself. Good chance ko na sana to go pero I had shift that day, so. . .
OK lang, am sure there will be a "next time", right?. ..
Anyway. . . excited n excited si Chin when she told me about her adventure with the animals, how she fed Mali the elephant, how the yellow snake felt so cold and how she got a bit scared from the boar, so forth. . .

Thank you much much for taking time to shoot our kids, they had a wonderful time!

As I said, I had other children shot as well. Here is John with his mother:

And who doesn't know Jason? When the media photographers arrived, he had the horse to himself:

He's got the complete blings -- vest and cowboy hat and all!

And the media had him to themselves. I wonder what he thought hearing those 1Ds cameras firing away continuosly!

I also shot Czarina. Here she is feeding Mali as John looks on:

The onlookers can only watch in envy! It is a rare prieilage to be able to do what she is doing!

Here's John showing Ewegemar how to feed Mali:

Of course, we went to the birds and the pig too!

Czarinah tried to hold her poise as the bird on her right flutters her wings tring to regain balance on her shoulder:

Ewegemar either has good balance or he is petrified still as one of the birds perches on his head! ;D

The two are having a good time tring to look for the coin slot in this live piggy bank! :D

Pahabol. I missed this and should have been in the previous post:

This is Keana, JC and another girl with the turtle. JC is riding the turtle! I'm glad his house is sturdy!

Keana eating ice cream to quell the heat of the sun.

Here's Lloyed having a chat with his ward:

Another kid riding the ostrich.

And my final image of a peackcock stutting her fine feathers to say goodbye to this photo essay!
