It will definitely be part of the future but I think SLR technology will be around for a long time. I wouldn't worry about it. I'd focus more on improving my skills than on hardware. Camera companies change their basic models every 6 months, their intermediate models every year, their amateur/pro grade every 3-4 years. It's all just too fast. And with the way smart phones are getting better, even the future of the basic P&S is in doubt now. The iPhone 4S' camera already beats quite a number of P&S units out there.

It doesn't matter. Unlike in automobiles where enthusiasts like me fear of future gas-free environment phasing out my beloved petrol hungry engine, the photographers will adapt to changes. Handling is subjective and it just gets time to get used to as to whatever replaces the current trend of image capturing machines. What matters is that the one holding it is competent and the gear he uses can exploit his talent and shell out the best image he can capture.

the way i see it, mejo madami ang magshishift sa mft since sensor size lang naman halos and main difference nila, especially yung hobbyists.

so yeah, it still depends on the user.  ;D

i dont think so, IMO micro systems are being offered as an option not a total replacement to DSLR
as observed, things are getting smaller each time. for instance, we used to have large speakers and amplifiers. but if you want to listen to your favorite tunes outdoors, you cant bring these things thus the invention of portable cd players to ipods and portable micro speakers. even houses these days are getting smaller, before there were houses, then came townhouses and condos. several years ago, we only have limited car variants, honda for example, the smallest of the lineup is the honda civic, now they brought to us new and smaller vehicles such as jazz and city, and as to compare also to DSLR bodies, before entry level canon bodies are the XXD, then canon reinvented and provided customers smaller and cheaper alternatives so came the XXXD bodies, now canon provides us XXXXD DSLRs. needless to say more and more options are being provided to us as newer technology now comes in different shapes and sizes, also there is a market for these types of gears. just my cents. :)

They both have their own forte and neither can totally replace the other.  Having both will be ideal.

The buzz and 'me too' factor suggests mirrorless or micro system will indeed wrestle the top spot from DSLR in terms of maybe marketing space and volume sales but in all honesty I cant see the replacing a DSLR since some have said already technology in that area is still developing pretty well also. I can see two niches developing and so long as DSLR stays at a certain complexity and price point it does leave the door wide open for system camera to grab the rung directly below or to the side that will appeal to those upgrading or simplifying.

Hi,

With the advancement of technology, sensor size will never be a disadvantage in terms of
quality photo output. We are nearing this point with the OM-D m4/3 camera.
