Thank you so much for all the replies.

I guess the "L" tag bears so much weight that even the extra Php15K-sub20K is really, really worth it.

17-55mm f2.8 is already a tad too pricey for me, and I don't know if the IS and f2.8 is worth the extra Php20-25K addt'l from 17-40mm L-type (though again, I've got a feeling that no one in this forum will disagree that it is not worth it).  ;D

yup, thats a good lens, the range is good, fast and IS... and its not a third party lens...... yun nga lang, not an L...but quality I hear is comparable to L.

You mean to say, aside from the build quality and vanity of an L-type lens, there's still a discernable difference (in image taken) between an L-type and a non-L?

ei thanks!

I guess this answered my question...

Quote
Prior to receiving my Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens, I stated that I expected its image quality to match or nearly match that of Canon's L Series Lenses as it shares the L-Series UD lens elements. As it turns out, my 17-55 matches or exceeds the optical performance of my L-Series zooms in this similar focal length range ...
