Price is $800 (47mm f/1.9 lens in 35mm equivalent included).  This camera has a smaller sensor but a higher megapixel count than the sensor in the S95, LX-5, and XZ-1.  Small sensor and 12mp means lens diffraction begins at f/2.5. This means one needs to be always shooting near wide-open but max shutter speed is 1/2000 only   ???

I am not sure what Pentax was thinking when it made this.  One might be better off with any of the three cameras above which would be smaller, lighter, and less expensive.  Canon will soon release a new model that will will replace the S95.

I'm with you on this one, i can only imagine the crop factor on this sensor. I think this is made to cater to lomo dudes.

You can do this even with P&S that has super-zooms lenses. Set it at highest resolution and shoot at your camera longest focal length and then crop it.

Field of view will be different. Resolution drops. And what's the f-stop of your camera longest focal length?

Why crop when you can have the full 16MP with 600mm+ F1.8?  ;D.

No party for now I guess.

The small lens mount introduces further complications. None of the ILCs can natively handle lenses designed for APS-C or full-frame cameras, but they all provide adapters to facilitate backward compatibility. Pentax has no plans to ship an adapter for old lenses.
