Dealing with a Model
« on: May 18, 2011, 08:17:24 PM »
hi everyone!

i usually shoot at concerts and music fests. but i would like to try shooting a model this time. Got a theme in mind and still searching for a model, got a place already din. here's my questions sirs, coz i know alot of guys here are "sanay" na to deal with models.

1. the costumes that they will be wearing, sila na mag dadala? and kung yes, how many sets if ever?? (sorry dont know anything about shooting a model)

2. MUA, the shoot will be in my place in cavite so i dont know any MUA. and how uch does it cost to hire an MUA? and may mga model ba na sila na din ang nag make up o talagang dapat may MUA?

3. what else do i need to know when dealing to models? limitations, do's and dont's?

thank you so much and i hope to hear from you guys soon!

hi everyone!

1. the costumes that they will be wearing, sila na mag dadala? and kung yes, how many sets if ever?? (sorry dont know anything about shooting a model)

it depends on your concept.kung medyo mahirap you will be providing the costume pag hindi naman pwede na din sila lalo na kung glam or sexy shoot lang naman din.normally 3 sets is fine

2. MUA, the shoot will be in my place in cavite so i dont know any MUA. and how uch does it cost to hire an MUA? and may mga model ba na sila na din ang nag make up o talagang dapat may MUA?

MUA's will cost you around 1-2K depends sa experience nila.minsan aabutin ka pa ng 2.5K,minsan models do their own makeup pero syempre sayang ang time kung pro MUA gagawa medyo ma achieve mo tlaga ung gusto mo pra sa concept mo.

3. what else do i need to know when dealing to models? limitations, do's and dont's?

depende sa model. kung implied nude syempre no showing of privates, no eagle spread pose etc..basta you have to earn their trust un yung mas important.

thank you so much and i hope to hear from you guys soon!

Get a model release if you are planning on using their photos for profit in the future.

1. the costumes that they will be wearing, sila na mag dadala? and kung yes, how many sets if ever?? (sorry dont know anything about shooting a model)
-- Sila mag dala pwede, just inform the model first what type of clothes, kung ano theme ( pero pwede din walang theme fun shoot lang) been doing this lately so I can say.

2. MUA, the shoot will be in my place in cavite so i dont know any MUA. and how uch does it cost to hire an MUA? and may mga model ba na sila na din ang nag make up o talagang dapat may MUA?
--  May mga models na sila din ang MUA, meron models na pwede walang mua, magpapa ayos muna sila bago mag shoot.. meron din may mga personal MUA.. depende sa model. usually ang rate ng MUA is around 1k - 3k ( minimum range ) .. some offers 500 per model... and some are free, mga gusto lang magka portfolio, kung malayo pa pangagalingan ng MUA, for free bigyan niyo nalang ng tip pamasahe at food :)

3. what else do i need to know when dealing to models? limitations, do's and dont's?
-- befriend them first, get to know each other well para swabe ang shoot .. the more comfortable the model is with the photographers the better outcome
give them copies of the outcome, show the model every shot you took of her if she wants it deleted then do so.Do's tell her kung ano kinukunan mo sakanya, kung headshot, whole body or half. Donts? .... no touching, unless kailangan ayusin like hair or any .

thank you so much and i hope to hear from you guys soon!

1. Ikaw nag isip ng theme, so maybe mas mabuti you get what they wear para mas ma fit sa anong iniisip mo na shoot :) but if they can provide one and makikita mo, it's better din hehe.

2. If your theme needs make up, get one nalang.. ewan ko ano price nila pero d naman siguro sobrang pricey :) i know people na meron talaga silang MUA, dapat may suki ka rin talaga :) practice na rin sa part ng MUA yun.

3. Ang natutunan ko lang, DO NOT TOUCH THE MODEL. Hehehehehe  ;D maging mabait sa model  :D If you're going to heavily post process i recommend showing them before releasing it. It's my own opinion lang btw :D
Play with light, and you'll eventually get it right

1. the costumes that they will be wearing, sila na mag dadala? and kung yes, how many sets if ever?? (sorry dont know anything about shooting a model)

It's ok to ask them to bring their own clothes, sure ka pa na fit sa kanila. Three sets will be fine.

2. MUA, the shoot will be in my place in cavite so i dont know any MUA. and how uch does it cost to hire an MUA? and may mga model ba na sila na din ang nag make up o talagang dapat may MUA?

Ask the model kung marunong siya mag make up ng sarili niya and check kung may samples siya ng photos na siya na make up sa sarili niya. Mga P1-2.5k on the average ang cost ng MUA. Also ask kung may extra cost like retouching, kung babaguhin for a different look yung model, etc. Also make sure na same time pagbook mo sa MUA and model, para maretouch niya if needed, lalo na pag mainit ang lugar.

3. what else do i need to know when dealing to models? limitations, do's and dont's?

Ako I never touch a model, if I need anything moved or adjusted, I ask a female MUA or the model herself to fix it. You can direct her so long as she's comfortable with the pose.

You can also bring your ipad/laptop or print-outs of photos for possible poses lalo na kung amateur lang model mo. Mga possible poses, para di kayo maubusan ng ideas, modify niyo na lang.

Usually mga 2-4 hours yang shoot, make sure na bigyan mo ng break time yung model, have drinking water on hand and light food siguro lalo na kung di masyado accessible yung shooting location.

May concept din pala ng TFCD or time for cd, meaning you don't pay each other, and compensate each other with your mutual efforts lang. The model models, you give her a cd copy of her pics to add to her port.

Be friendly with the model and have fun! :-)
