Tripods:Manfrotto vs Benro
« on: November 12, 2006, 07:23:44 PM »
For those of you out there who has had both tried both Benro and Manfrotoo tripods, how does the Benro tripods compare to that of Manfrotto's?You see,I am thinking of getting a Benro tripod, namely the C-298.Would anyone out there also know if a Manfrotto 322RC2 ballhead would fit the Benro C-298 tripod?
THANKS.

Benro c298 is way, way lighter and sturdier.. Im 180lbs. and it could carry me.. I think ballheads have standard connection. standard din ang screw ng c298.. and best part is 20% pa yata ang benro ngayon.. call aperture now...heehe  :D

Another thumbs-up for the C298 :D

Been using this model for a couple of months now. It's pretty sturdy, it can be set up in a lot of ways, finish is very good, the locks are rotary (in contrast to Manfrotto's clips), but the feel is solid, and the legs stay in place once you lock them down. One feature that got me sold is the fact that your can put the column in a horizontal or angled position, while the Manfrottos I saw only allow you to put the column in either a vertical or horzontal position. Minor things for some, but I appreciate the flexibility it affords me in the field :D

You stood on top of the tripod?

I own a Manfrotto just because there was no alternative localy back then, though given the cheap price of Benro might consider a carbon fiber  ;D

i own an a-298 and a bh-01 from benro....similar setup to a 055prob and i forgot what ballhead is that for the manfrotto...

it's sturdy, great finish...the leg locks are sandproof and waterproof btw, great for shooting outdoors...

the A line is somewhat heavy...so it would really be better if you get the C line...

and it's tall, i stand 5'11". and when you fully extend the legs, not extending the center column, it matches my eye height...well, its the same as with the 055prob's height.

manfrotto heads will fit into the benro legs because they use the standard 3/8" (if i'm not mistaken) threads.

The Carbon Fiber for Manfrotto is sooooo mahal for the unit I like around 22k excluding the ball head (4k+)!  :'(

Any idea how much the same material for Benro will cost? Hope Aperture has stock :)

For those who own the C298 tripod...does the compass really work? I think mine has a problem because it doesn't turn.  :( Maybe I need to have it replaced. Hope someone can enlighten me on this matter. Thanks in advance!  :)

i got the c128 model,  one of the lightest model about 1.36 lbs and the kb0 head.  great for traveling and their tripod comes complete with bag & strap.  a very stable leg & very effective head... really value for money.  i'm glad aperture imported the benro.

I got the enro A-298 (aluminum) stand and paired it with a KS-0 3-way ball and socket head.  I paid a lot more than what I had originaly intended to spend, but I'm very happy with it, especially when doing table top (stilll life) shots.  Both the stand and head are very maneuverable and can be securely locked into position.
