Baseco Photowalk (How to, Tips and Tricks)
« on: May 04, 2011, 02:54:30 AM »

Any tips regarding Baseco Photowalk will do. Salamat piphols!

Goodluck!!

delikado yun gusto mong mangyari ..... hundreds of who-knows-what type of people versus few civilized ....

Even our salesman sa company prefers not to stay there for too long ..... and he dont dwell deep into the compound. sa bungad lang daw siya.

Good luck.... I personally discourage you to do that

so,parang field trip lang?   :o :o :o

::) people want to be photographed at their best. kung katuwaan lang wag na lang. sorry kung medyo blunt ha. i used to work as a volunteer in a charity. people in misery are not happy being photographed just like that. iisipin nila para lang may pumuntang zoo at kumuha ng subjects. ::)

+1 here..

May nabasa din ako na article dito sa pipho, (di ko lang matandaan kung saan and kung kaninong experience to).. Nag punta sila sa isang depressed area. Then, may parang sumigaw na "ANO? PIPICTUREAN NIYO KAMI. TAPOS ANO?! IPOPOST NIYO SA INTERNET!?" something like that. So, ibig sabihin aware din sila..

-wala lang nakwento ko lang OT..  :D :D  ;D

+1k

Set your objectives and reassess if you really need to go there.

kung street photography ang gusto mo, or you want to capture depression, baka naman may ibang lugar na pwede mong puntahan.

bro i believe there is a Gawad Kalinga *GK" community in Baseco.  We had "build" activities there a few years ago.  You could go to the GK office in the area and talk with the GK resident coordinator and explain the purpose of your visit/ photowalk.  Normally, GK residents welcomes photographers so they can show-off the improvements that they managed to do in their lives and place of residence.  Here are some tips based on my experience as a former GK community coordinator:

1.  ask the local GK resident coordinator to go with you and show you around and introduce you to the residents and barangay officials
2.  engage the residents in small talk before even taking your first shot.  Discuss their challenges and their triumphs since GK came to help them out (parang immersion activity hehe).  They normally would welcome this.
3.  smile, smile, smile!  then smile, smile and smile again  :) :) :)

street photography ethics dictate that we capture our subjects at "flattering" moments (lots of those in areas like this --- families having fun, residents helping out in building houses, small livelihood projects, etc).  Refrain from taking photos of "undersirable elements" in their lives unless it is for a documentatry which you wouldn't post publicly (e.g., heaps of garbage, mga nag-iinuman sa kalye, mga batang madungis, etc.).  Just my $0.02 worth.  HTH bro  8)

delikado kayo jan sir.

goodluck.
