50D Focus Problems
« on: May 16, 2010, 11:55:06 AM »
Hi everyone! I have a 50D and for some reason, the autofocus became really slow and is having a hard time finding it's focus. I've swapped all my lenses and they all have the same problem meaning the focus problem is in the body. I was using my extension tube (original canon) for some macro shots in the morning and then in the afternoon had a photo-shoot with a model and noticed the problem. At first, I thought it was a lens problem so I swapped by 85mm for my 24-70mm and the problem was still there. Has anyone ever come across this issue and what are the possible problems here?  And how do I fix it?

Here is what happens, it tries to focus then for a second it seems like it's able to focus and then it goes out of focus again. I usually focus with the center focus point but I have tried with all the focus points and I still get the same problem. BUT the thing to note here is that it still does focus about 30% of the time. Will be sending it in to Canon next week but then was wondering if anyone has come across this problem before?

Thanks in Advance!!!

Anthony :)

Up!  I have exactly the same problem but on my old 400D... please help.

For Anthony, did bringing it to Canon fixed the problem?
