Ito din ang dilemma ko now, since naka kit lens pa ako now (18-55mm) I'm debating if I should save up for the 18-200mm (which will take some time) or go for a 55-200 since its more affordable.

Ang problem lang na iniisip ko is yung pagpapapalit-palit ko ng lens, mas prone na mapasukan ng dust yung camera.  Then again, sanayan na lang siguro at iharap pababa ang camera when changing lens.  Sorry noob lang po :)

Pero after reading this topic, mukhang naconvince ako na mag 2 lens setup nalang.  :)

Oo nga e, mas maganda talaga pa advice muna bago bumili ng bagong gamit. im considering an 18-200 in the future, pero sa ngayon na kaya pa naman magchange2 ng lens, sa 2 Lens lineup din ako. ;D

good day, i work sa event company and what we need is to capture the event on the right moment...i use 18-200mm sigma apo dg, and it does the job, sigma makes good lenses for the fraction of the counterparts, if i have two body to use i will go for 24-70 and 70-200 pero kung isa lang, i dont have the luxury of time to change lens, i might miss the moment that i need to capture. ;D ;D ;D
i guess ang sagot dyan sa tanong mo is kung saan mo gagamitin...

Hehe good point po pero alam mo naman yung mga kaya ng tulad namin  ;D nagtitiis nalang, pero usually nagsshoot if malapit, kit lang talaga i dont change na, tapos kung malayo nanghihiram lang ako tele..hehehe. im considering rin yung 18-200 pero masyadong mahal pa para sakn atm, so sa 2 lens lineup muna ako.  ;D

hmmm... no doubt two lens.. I started with the nikkor 18-200... in the end you will look for that "fast" lens in your line up.. then i bought the 70-200f2.8 by nikkor.. now its on the dry box.. my two lens combo.. 24-70f2.8 and nikkor 85f1.8G.. HAPPY!

(Walang magawa sa Terminal Mode...)

I've had a 3-lens combo before, 35mm, 18-105 and 55-300. Sold the 55-300 three months after buying due to lack of use. Better observe first what focal length you always use, and determine whether you use the long end of the zoom range often. The 18-55 kit is admittedly short, but at least for me, the 18-200 is already too long (and heavy set-up for travel).

For a canon user, why not try considering the 18-135mm lens.  Or, if you really need the long reach, think outside the box and instead of getting a new lens, why not wait for the release of Panasonic's newest 28-600mm superzoom, the FZ200 (with 2.8 aperture thru all the range daw). The price of the superzoom may even be cheaper than the 18-200 lens. As to IQ, superzooms produce decent photos din naman.
Nikon D5100; AF-S DX Nikkor 18-105mm; AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G; AF-S NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR; Nissin Di622 Mk II; Benro T800EX Tripod; Lowepro Rezo 170 AW; Case Logic SLR Bag

sir just a question? if you already have the 24-70 2.8? para san pa ung 85 1.8? di ba konting diffrence lang ang 70-80mm? in terms of IQ sir? same lang din ba? planning on investing a new lens sir eh, kaso medyo mahal ung 2.8, so thinking of the 85mm . THanks sir.

with regard to the topic, kung after ka talaga sa quality, hinde po advisable ang 18-200mm, yan din problem ko dati, i have the 18-105mm and 70-300mm, pero tamaad kasi ako mag palit ng lens so i ended up not using the 70-300mm, kaya i bought the nikkor 18-200mm, pero ang naging problem ko is nag stick ako sa f/8 at least since per reading, dun daw pinaka sharp ung lens. so hirap sa low light. but if ever mag 2 2 lens combo ulit ako, i wouldnt go back to 18-55mm/105mm + 55-200mm/70-300mm, mag i invest na ako sa sharp lens talaga na fixed 2.8 aperture. so hangang wala pang budget, ok na muna ako sa convenience na offer ng 18-200mm ko.
