Got any in 49mm?  ;D

Do you point to the light source or the the subject when taking a custom WB reading? I'm loving the Grey Kard by the way.

Hi Diego, we don't have 49mm. It's either you point it to your shooting scene or point it to the known light source (if you are sure that the light source is the only one lighting the scene).

Got the 77mm.  very nice and easy to use.  Compared to my previous white balance filter, Vivicap is easy to use without the hassle of holding this a the color comes out very accurate.  However, the only drawback that i experience is, it took a moderate effort to take it off from your lens since the spring that hold it to you lens have a strong tension.  Overall, I recommend this to everyone.

Do you have to buy 1 for each lens size or can I just buy the 77 mm and use it for my smaller diameter lenses?

It's up to you - whichever floats your boat - 1 for each lenses (since they work as lenscap also), or 1 big one - which works for smaller lens diameter.

Hi Brian,

Got my order of Vivicap WB lens caps. Thanks for your as-usual quick service!

Just a few observations for the benefit of others who may want to buy this product.

1. They work beautifully. Better than the Auto-WB on my Nikon D300.
2. On my 70-300 VR Nikkor, 35mm 1.8 Nikkor, and 16-85 VR Nikkor where I am using Hoya HMC Super filters (UV for protection), the Vivicaps snap on and off with no fuss. Perfect.
3. On my 10-20 Sigma WA, where I'm using a Kenko Pro 1D UV(W) fllter, it's a tight fit and I have to struggle to remove the Vivicap. It's no problem when NOT using a filter, but I'm worried that the Vivicap might hit the front element of the Sigma (it appears to protrude beyond the level of the filter thread). Another poster commented that it's hard to remove once attached. I don't recall what lens he was using. Best to NOT use the pull clips (cuz they can come off easily if you pull them hard). Instead, push against the locks; works better.

Cheers,
Junbo

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the tutorial on this one. The Lens Cap is working great! hehe. That D-3 setting gave us quite a hard time.

Okay ka-deal tong si Brian, I highly recommend him and his products.  :D

I'm a virtual tour photographer, and bought a Vivicap for my VR/pano work.  I was recently contracted to shoot a chain of motels, where their rooms had different themes.  A mix of different colors, accent lights and shadows/highlights.

Initially, playing with the different WB settings, the camera got confused with the mixed lights.  I was not able to produce the right colors.

The Vivicap, made my life easier.  Set up the tripod, attach the Vivicap, do Custom WB, set the Aperture wide open, point at the light source, then shoot.  CWB success!

Shooting the 360 panorama with the CWB produced amazing results!  Actual colors came out, which requires no color alteration in post processing.  This shortened my workflow.  I just now PP to clean noise, sensor dust etc.

I highly recommend this product.  It's simple to use and it works! A very good investment!
