i sold my d60 2 nights ago for a low price (i won't mention it here medyo nakakahiya e). pero considering the abuse it went through even though mababa pa ang actuations ok na yung price ko. marami pa interested sa d60. don't worry too much kung mabebenta mo pa sya. teka, di ba ikaw ang nagsabi sa kin na sa tpc magpost ng d60 for sale? ;D

anyway back to the topic. maganda pa rin talaga ang d80. lahat ng users nirerekomenda pa rin yan. pero kung in 2 months may budget ka na for a d90, magintay ka na. buy a book about photography na lang muna. tapos after 2 months iapply mo lahat ng natutunan mo sa pagbabasa sa bago mong d90. hehehe. good luck sa pagdedecide pare, mahirap talaga yan.

onga, i saw your ads sa tpc.. nagulat nga ako ang bilis mo nabenta.. i always visit tpc to have an idea of the current market status. and yes, madami pa rin naghahanap ng d60 and even d40. hmm.. isip isip pa rin ako. ndi pa rin decided.

bro, i suggest that you start shooting now with whatever camera body you can afford to buy. the pictures you will make, and the experience you will get and learn from , especially you're a prolific shooter who likes to experiment, is, in my opinion, worth more than the price difference between the d80 and d90.

try to get things right before firing the shutter. it's harder to fix things later using software. you're better off doing something else... like taking more pictures. =)

d90 + 18-55mm (40k + 3K = 43k) stretch lang ng konti

but if you really need the cam now, get a d40 plus lenses (18-105mm vr) and flash (nissin di622 = 6k) would already be good.

if you already have enough budget, sell the d40 then get the body you could get.

the d40 could only depreciate by so much (nasa max of 15k na lang to 2nd hand)

if you want in-body motor, get a d70.

At 40k budget... you will go a long way already for a pre-owned d80 for 25k price range... may matitira ka pang 15k for a kitlens to start off and a few more essential accessories such as flash, tripods, etc... For me, i'm not gonna spend 90% of my budget for a body and be limited to all the essential accessories...

If i were to spend 40k for everything...

15k-18k body (kahit d40 lang may sukli pa)
10k-12k lens (sobra na para sa 18-135afs)
6k-8k flash (sb600 or kahit nissin)
2k-4k (bag, camera protection, etc)

i'm a very satisfied D80 user. my first dslr. i bought D80 body+50mm 1.8D at Henrys and I never regretted. I did not get the kit lens.

if you still can find d80 and afford it i recommend it.

as many says, better shoot with what you have now than wait for your dream camera and loose the moments.

if your budget only permits you to buy D80 then go for it. kasi pag nagipon ka for a D90 by that time may bago na naman na lumbas na model so it would leave you itching for the newer model since the technology is new.

D80 can give you the results you need and want. I own a D40 and if i decided to upgrade at this moment and my budget does not permit a d90 body then D80 would be my choice. Halos lahat ng ginagamit ng D90 pwede sa D80. I know some people who even started with a 2nd hand D70 even up to now hindi ko alam kung bakit ayaw nila ibenta. I guess they fell in love with it and it give them the result they wanted.

At the end of the day its still the indian and not the pana  ;D
wait until you become such...

I've read somewhere that if you want to upgrade bodies, don't just upgrade one step up, upgrade by a leap. I guess by getting the d80 now and improving your skills together with the cam and the lenses that you will be using, when the time comes that you feel you have outgrown the d80 body a newer model above the d90 would be available.

thats why I am on the hunt for a fresh d80 body after using a point and shoot cam. hehe  ;D

If you really feel that you have to upgrade in 3-4 months time, wait na lang. It's hardly a point to buy something now that you know you will upgrade because of an itch rather than outgrowing your camera.

I've had my D80 for about 2 years now and I can honestly say that I haven't truly maximized it's potential yet. I was so tempted to get a D90 when it came out because of all the features, but I realized after a shoot with Light Chaser that I didn't need it just yet. The shoot taught me to understand and learn how to control the light and maximize my work with that rather than see it as a limitation.

If image quality is your concern, the point is almost moot with current or even recent DSLRs.
Remember,
"Despite newer cameras coming out, it doesn't make the D80 any less of a camera that it is right now!"
Just something to ponder on...

I'm using my 50/1.8 again lately and I really miss this lens. Teaches a lot of the basics because I'm not spoiled zooming and aperture is bright and constant.

Even with what I've learned with my D80 for the past couple of years, and you give me a D3x and the Nikkor Trinity right now, I still can name people who will produce better images than I would even if they used a D40 and a kit lens.

But if you're really on a budget and worried about lens compatibility, why not try a Canon 500D or even a 1000D. Canon has better local support too.
But if you really want a Nikon camera that can AF on D lenses, try a 2nd hand D50 or D70/s. They won't really break the bank and they will still teach you what you need to know and when you do get the D90 or whatever is "in" at the time, you will still have a very capable back-up/secondary camera.
