Landscapes and Seascapes: Shoot into the Sun?

For landscapes and seascapes, I already know that the best times to shoot is during both twilights, sunrise, and sunsets. 

But do we always have to shoot into the sun?  Meaning shooting only eastwards during sunrise and shooting only westwards during sunset?

It depends on the situation. But I do find it advantageous when the sun is behind me any time of day.
