INFRARED Conversion Services - for Canon

INFRARED Conversion Services - for Canon

1. What is the difference between converted infrared cameras and normal cameras + infrared filters in front of the lens ?

Shutter speed in converted cameras is normal, speed in normal unconverted cameras is very low ( you need tripod to shoot ).

Viewfinder in converted cameras is normal, viewfinder in normal unconverted cameras is very dark ( you can’t view it through your viewfinder ).

2. What is the best method for conversion?

Currently we offer two kinds of infrared conversion:

Full infrared

Full infrared is the standard infrared version, just as if you use Hoya R72 filter. The full  infrared filters used in this version is not the Hoya R72. It’s a custom glass filters with the same cut off of around 720nm. The sky will be brown, and leaves change to white or light grey.

Pros:
This version can be post processed to an unlimited tone and color creations. Unique and true infrared style. It’s good for landscape photography.

Cons:
Full IR needs a bit higher post processing skill in Photoshop.

Enhanced Color Infrared
Enhanced color Infrared is easy to post process. Sky will be brown / orange, and leaves will be cyan. With normal channel swap, we get a brilliant blue sky and yellow leaves.

Pros:
This version is very easy to post process.  It’s good for landscape photography and people photography.

Cons:
Contrast is lower than a higher cutoff filters like Full Infrared, or even BW Infrared.

3. What are are the supported cameras?

Canon
300D, 350D, 400D, 450D, 20D, 30D, 40D, 5D

Nikon
D50, D70, D70s, D60, D80, D200

4. How much will it cost?

The infrared conversion costs P19500. 20% downpayment is required (approximately P4000)  Since we want to ensure that we give the best service, we will close the infrared conversion service once we reach 10.

5. Do you have sample images?

Here are some sample images taken by our infrared converted cameras

Canon Full Infrared

Nikon Full Infrared

totally close when you reach 10 or do you mean you will only accept orders once a batch of 10 has been fully converted?

Will wait and see the demand for now, but we're aiming for at least 10 people for the first batch so we can get this started.

Btw there's an extra bonus for those who'll be part of the first batch. Stay tuned as I update this thread

The converted camera will be pure IR lang. There are a couple of Piphols here in the forum who're using 2nd or 3rd cameras as pure IR - EdwinM, gidferrer, annfrann and dni.

is there a particular reason whey the older cameras are not on your list of supported models.  for instance, in canon, the 10D, D60, D30 are not listed.  even clay blackmore was using a fully converted D60 during the photo summit.  just curious.

cheers!

As of now those are the models that are good candidates for conversion. I'll post other models if they can be included. What camera model are you planning to convert among those old models?

pang Bi lang sorry sa OT

What made me convert a camera?

Its probably because infrared poses a different view and feel. With the infiltration of dslrs right now, one has to pose a unique perspective and visual impact. Infrared gives this. And converted camera gives it with more flexibility.

This shot would be impossible to shoot with a screw type filter on...

thanks.
