Ext. Tube, it extends the focal lenght of your lens without adding glasses while Close-up filters, it also extends the focal lenght pero with glasses na.

The problem with close-up filters is medyo blurry sa mga dulo nya.

Let me rephrase Judell's comments: ;D

Ext Tube - reduce the min focusing distance of your lens, no glass.
Extender/TC - increase the focal length, but will retain the min. focusing distance of the lens.
Close-up filter/diopter - reduce the min. focusing distance, magnify the subject.

In effect, All of them will increase the magnification.

Cheers!

Do not forget that it will also decrease your maximum aperture when you add a teleconv or ext tube.

extension tubes works with any EF lenses.... most lenses I supposed.... I've used it with Canon 50mm and tried with Sigma 18-125mm and sigma 70-300mm.... ;)

I'm not sure though if it works with the kits lens.... I've read that there's some workaround for it to work with EF 18-55mm... :)

It will not unless the extension is EF & EFs compatible :( Mine is not.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Another question: Do extension tubes reduce the aperture and autofocusing speed of the lens?
